Hi Steven

Believe it is a magazine that's available in the UC section

The regular UC V-Flyers will have more details though

Carlos is a sort of trendy coffee table magazine. There is some information about it here, direct from the VS website.

I wouldn't worry that your missing much. As Highflyer says, its a trendy mag. So trendy in fact that IMHO it passes over into uninteligable, poseur, tripe.

Just to add some balance, I believe there are some members here who enjoy reading it, and no doubt they will be along to sing its praises in a minute. Unfortunately though, I am not one of them.

It's a very "arty" in flight magazine for UC passengers. It polarises recipients who either consider it a triumph of form over content or a fun read [}:)]

And I am one! Even after getting through the Grauniad like typos that litter it.

It's really a bit of fluff to while away the time but does have some fun and interesting stuff ... occasionally.

btw Steven are you related to Holly?

I think it looks very nice, but I prefer Heat or Conde Nast...

Not sure about going over people's heads. Personally, I'm of the distinct opinion that it goes beneath mine... ;)

I don't waste my time reading it any more - Only ever found one article in there either sensible or interesting, and that was on Las Vegas!

Carlos is a strange publication.

First one I ever saw was earlier this year and had the excellent article on Las Vegas as preiffer mentioned. There was one other amusing list in there.

The one I picked up last week I have only thumbed through and so far cann ot find anything remotely interesting or funny.

I like the idea of it being something different but it would semm to be very hit and miss.

I pretty much love it. My favorite article ever was a list of songs on Paul Smith's i-Pod.

I remember that, i think they did it for a whole load of celebrities as i found it interesting reading.

Now, if they had listed the songs on our very own Paul's iPod - that would be hilarious!

Now there's an idea - maybe I should write in...

Oooh - a center-fold section: Music on the left, video on the right ;)

On my last trip I asked for a copy of Carlos (of which I managed to read about half before the lure of more Laurent Perrier proved too great - I simply can not rave enough about the wine list upgrade!), and the FSM was shocked. He informed me that I was the first passenger ever to ask him for a copy.

He promptly took the stock out of storage and placed them all in the magazine rack. By the end of the flight, half of the passengers had a copy. It seems you really have to know it's there.

If you manage not to crease it too much, you can get the best part of a tenner for it on ebay...[}:)]

Happy holidays!

I concur, it even makes me want to stay at Claridge, instead of my favourite One Aldwych.

Even the FSM yesterday noted that the Carlos that was being handed to us was the same one that had been out for months already. [n]

I DO like the new format entertainment guide though... [y]

Note to anyone confused by the two topics - A new one has been started here specifically relating to the news that Carlos is to be scrapped.
