I'm flying to St Lucia in June from LGW, looking at the aircraft details, it appears to be the Nova system, which is the most basic Entertainment system, does PE have the same entertainment system as economy?

Doesn't seem fair does it?
The IFE in each a/c is an indication as to how long it has been in service since a major refit. When a new IFE is fitted the whole plane is done.
How soon we forget - it isn't too many years since we thought that Nova was the 'dogs'. In a perfect world we would have VPort and UCS in every plane, unfortunately that would be far too expensive.
The mind boggles as to the next system!
Remember - when Maiden Voyager first took to the skies (in VS colours, at least) in 1984 (less than 20 years ago)there were no seat back TVs, just 9 channel audio and video screens at strategic points throughout the cabin.

It's quite amazing to read SRB's commentary about how he got the new IFE. Turned out it was easier for him to open up a £4bn credit line for 18 new planes with seat back IFE already fitted than get £10mn to upgrade the fleet in 1992 [:0]

I heard before about a/c having Gallery or Gallery Plus on some Virgin 747-200s. What was Gallery, and when was it introduced, if anyone knows that is?! Thanks!

Can't remember an IFE system called Gallery, but wasn't that the name of the IFE magazine at one time?

Gallery does ring a bell in regards to IFE....
Hot Air used to be the onboard magazine, it got canned post 9/11

Thanks,
Richard

I have memories of two magazines. Hot Air was the excellent magazine about the airline, but I thought there was a seperate IFE magazine and that it was called Gallery.
Hot Air was certainly more readable and pertinent to VS than Carlos is:)

I am sure there was something about Gallery being a IFE system on SOME 747-200s a couple of years ago, with smaller screens than Arcadia in Economy! I dunno!

Thanks for the info! I think I was thinking of another system on some of the other ones on VIRG or JFK , as I saw a photo on the internet.
Thanks very much

I don't take it as heresy Decker, I have nothing against Carlos (accepting that my exposure to it is limited) I just thought there was nothing wrong with Hot Air.
As they say in the organisation I work for - If it ain't broke, fix it till it is!!

Did Maiden Voyager ever get fitted with PTVs before it left eh fleet?
Yes, I last flew on it in 1996 and it had PTV with 2 film channels.
