New Premium Seat

Has anyone managed to trial the new Premium Economy seat yet? I saw G-VWKD the other day and the extra legroom in 'Y' is so much better and the new 'W' seat certainly looks the business but does it live up to the job?

Anyone managed to get any pics of the new seats or cabin layouts?

Cheers,
Mike

Is the new W seat a completely new design or is it just like the seats with leather covers that were trialled on one of the -400s?

Cheers,

We are flying PE out of IAD on Jan 9th and may be on VWKD. I'll try to get some pics of her layout and seats, if possible.[8D]

What's the rollout of this going to be, plz?

Is this really a new seat or just the curvey one that's been rolled-out over the past year or so? I think you might be referring to the newish one rather than a complete redesign?

As far as I'm aware it is a new seat they are trying out. It's purple leather (same colour as UCS) and there are only about 4 of them in the 'W' cabin, the rest of the seats are the usual mix of blue and red fabric seats.

I'll try and get some pictures of the next few days.

Do we know the location of the seats in the W cabin?

While they may look good, the most important thing is are they comfortable for 12 hours at a time? [:p]

Are VS taking feedback from the occupants of the new style seat on each flight? Monitoring the wear and tear on the evaluation seats so we don't end up with the maintenance/tweaking needed to keep the UCS ship-shape?

I do also hope that the new economy seats will have Empower sockets as well.

/Controversial mode on:

But is that really in the airline's best interests? I'm all for product development, but if the so-called (perceived) "business facilities" such as in-seat power are widely available in the economy cabin, then you risk diluting the value of J & W even further.

Personally, from an economical point of view, I don't think they should... (flameproof jacket also on at this point)

J is J, and it's a whole world away from both W & Y, but if you start putting the "businessey frills" in Y without improving the Premium product as well (and by a notable amount, not just "re-introducing the baileys service" [ii]), then surely people will have even less inclination to spend 2,3 even 4 times as much on a PE ticket over a regular Y?

As mentioned earlier this week, is it really practical to use a laptop in Y, anyway?

/Controversial mode off

Just my $0.02...[:w]

Sweet???? [:0]

There have been lots of adjectives used to describe me in the past, but I am sure that's the first time that particular one has been used. [:o)][8D]:D[:I]

It's the way those little pointy fingers seem to be "targeting" the letter they want to press next, Nick ;)
