Hi again,

i was looking at the photos that people have taken and i saw a couple that were taken from the side of the runway at manchester airport. Is it possible for the general public to go to the side of the runway and if so how do you get to it. It may not be the side of the runway it just might be a good camera. but does anyone know how to get to a good viewing site at manchester

Thank you

it's an optical illusion, kind of hard to decribe, but the way the runways are set up with the photo area makes it look a lot closer than it is,unless of course you are refering to any pic's taken from the terminals or aircraft.

There does appear to be quite a decent place to see the runway, which is evidenced in this video link.

There is a great viewing park at Manchester Airport. It is alongside the runways. There are several viewing platforms.

Concorde is based in the viewing area and you can arrange for a tour.

Food and drink vans are available along with picnic tables and Toilet facilities.

The avation viewing park is well signposted .

I love planes but it spooks me out when people want to know about a particular flight and how to get close to it, also a bit odd to ask if it stays over the weekend when its not flying.

soz but giving strangers tips on how to get close to a particular plane and answering questions about where the same plane is parked up doesn't seem quite right.

tosh your obviously just an enthusiast like the rest of us, but then who knows[:I]
