Suspension of Twilight and On-Line Check-In at LGW

Found this on the VA Website this afternoon!

"Virgin Atlantic regrets to inform all passengers departing from London Gatwick that Twilight Check In and online check in are currently unavailable until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would advise passengers to leave plenty of time before the scheduled departure of their flight to check in at the airport".

Anyone know the reason for the suspension of the service, and also how permanent it may be??

Thanks Owen for the info I'd not seen it.

John hopefully it will be sorted out before you travel but as a Ag could be where the Premium check-in is useful.

Also worrying for me as I am off in 5 days. I was planning on using OLCI.

Sounds like a computer says no problem to me which wont accept pax checked in the day before the flight.

Somebody else was complaining that the Downtown Disney check in was not available last week as well.

Hi, I work for BAA and I think it's a computer problem affecting all check-in zones at South Terminal. All office based staff received an email this afternoon asking for volunteers to help out over the weekend, ie. reassuring passengers, queue management & that sort of thing. Can't be sure that this is related to the Virgin problem but sounds like it must be.

I have had this confirmed now, as per Vegascrazy it is a LGW check-in problem. If this is not resolved by tomorrow morning they wil have to manually check-in passengers, but this is definately a short-term issue

This happened a few Saturdays ago but not just VS, but the lines for VS were huge and stretched all the way out to the travelators at the entrance to the south terminal!!!

It was due to a check-in system problem. As someone has already mentioned there was a similar problem late last year. It's not a Virgin issue but an issue with the software used by all operators in the South Terminal. 3 of yesterdays flights went around 2 hours late whilst they reverted back to manual check-in.

Looks like VS is not the only airline offering Twilight check in at Gatwick. EasyJet has joined the game.
