Excitement is mounting chez PJH as it's now only a fortnight to our trip to Chicago. Sights to see are being prioritised and the offspring are getting nervous about their parents' inability to decide on places to eat. The only thing I haven't managed to arrange is a trip to the ball game on the Monday, as it's SRO.

Anyhow, we are staying at the Conrad Hilton on North Rush Street. What's the best way to get into that area ? Should I be simply opting for a taxi or are there other options ?

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

If you dont mind using public transport, by far the cheapest (and often quickest) option is to use the Blue Line.

I think it's something like $2.25 each way and takes about 35mins to get into the city area.

Thanks James. I'm of a mind to use this. This may sound like a daft question, but is it suitable for people with luggage ?

It's not too bad. Most of the stations have disabled access wide entry/exit gates you can use with luggage and most (if not all stations) are manned so there's always someone their on hand to help if required.

Lots of the inner city stations are only accessable via steps though as they all tend to be either under-ground or over-head.

There's a good page on the Chicago transit system Web site here. I've always cabbed it or been picked up so can't comment on other modes but if you want rock bottom price then the Blue line and some luggage carrying, or a cab will be $40-$50 which sounds more reasonable if there are x2 or more of you?

I used the airport shuttle bus last November with no problems at all.

I cant remeber whihc oine it was - I found it on the ORD website. There were also a couple of discount codes available too that reduced the fare by a couple of $$

But if there are more than 3 of you a cab might just work out cheaper.
