Hi Folks am looking for some advice / personal experiences for transferring from Orly to Paris City centre

Having looked at the Orly website and various train / bus sites, it seems to be pretty easy to use public transport, even if a couple of changes are needed but was wondering if anyone has done it what their experience was like?

How long did it take?
What method did you use, bus, train?

We haven't sorted a hotel yet but it will be central Paris somewhere.

We will also looking at the possibility of a hire car, not only will we need to get into central Paris, we will be looking for a day trip to Versailles.

Roughly speaking the public transport costs look about €11 each person (2 of us) , each way from the airport, and around the same each person each way to Versailles.

A basic hire car through holiday autos is about €45 for the 3 days we are there, although we would need to factor in fuel and car parking in Paris.

Would a hire car be easier and more convenient? Although it may be slightly more expensive. Or is the public transport option the better. (any pointers as to the best public transport ticket to buy to cover the 3 days would be appreciated as well)

Thoughts?

The Paris subway is easy to use if you know where you want to go.

I have used the RER from CDG but not from ORY.
It looks easy enough.
