Just checked my January statement online. They now split out FC miles into standard miles and bonus miles. I assume the bonus miles are for my spend with VH, if so this would be quite helpful.

However they are giving me the identical number of standard miles to bonus miles. Something not quite right here I think. The upshot is that I am 4924 miles short which happens to be twice the amount I spent with VH so I assume they have only given me 4x miles instead of 6x for that spend.

It all worked fine last month when I paid the deposit to VH. It seems in splitting out the miles they have got it wrong somewhere.

Could anyone tell me if I need to call MBNA or Virgin Members Shop to check.

Many Thanks

You need to call MBNA for Amex points queries. Good luck [:o)]

Is another possibility that you have aready hit £20,000 spend on the card since taking it out? I seem to remember that the 4x miles was limited to the first £20,000, after which is was 2x.

Thanks,
Sarah

See here for the Black card and here for the white card, but yes, there's a limit.

For the black card:

Until 31 July 2007 you will earn 4 Flying Club miles for every £1 you spend on your card (offer applies to spend on up to £20,000). From 1 August 2007 (or earlier if you have spent £20,000 using your card) you will earn 2 Flying Club miles for every £1 you spend on your card.

on the VS website, it says only 4 points per £1 with VS/VH, but according to Virgin Money it's six up until 31 July 2007 - I'll be signing up asap then :)

Shame I'm flying VS005 on Aug 1 though [:(!]

Its MBNA - you have to get through to customer services and then ask for the Virgin Atlantic AMEX specialist - Im sorry I do not have her name yet - but one does exist and they will sort your problem out!!

Phone MBNA and ask what Flying Club number they have for you. Do not give them yours first. Check it is correct. I assume this is your first statement? The majority of these issues seem to be a missing FC number. You will need to spend on the card on a future statement for miles to appear, a zero month results in no previous miles being added if due.

Uhm, did anyone notice anything extra today on their VS statement? My miles have not posted yet, but something else did.

Thanks,
Sarah

No Sarah - I had a companion flight added on 7th Dec but nothing special today - tell all - what did it show?

Erm, I have just had a companion voucher, my second ... :)

Stupidly enough, its doubtful i'll use it, thats two from the Credit Card within 6 months, and one for Au renewal. Three in total!

Thanks,
Sarah

That's so unfair.. I've had the Mastercard since September 2005, and I STILL don't have a companion voucher. :(

Neither do I, but I haven't got a companion, so it would just make me feel even lonelier! [xx(]

Just got my Jan statement and like the original poster of this thread I too got "bonus" miles on this statement - exactly the same number as my normal miles. Have I missed something, I've ended up with twice as many miles I was expecting? I haven't made any VA or VH purchases [:?]

I assume the bonus miles is for the double miles promotion as well, which is why it shows the same as your standard miles.

My statement showed bonus miles of twice my VS and VH spend this month, so looks like they got my miles correct :D

Thanks Mike, I'm still confused - although not complaining of course :) Must admit though, this "double miles" promotion that people have mentioned has pretty much passed me by. Surely these double miles are offered only on selected purchases - eg. in a thread a few days ago Neil (Attitude23) mentioned BP (petrol). From what has happened to me, and from what I've read in this thread, MBNA have simply awarded us all an amount of bonus miles that exactly doubles what we would have got by default - eg. I was due 4600 miles which I got but I also got another 4600 miles, so over 9K from a single statement!

Good to see more fun and games from MBNA...[n]

I'm looking forward to them potentially doubling my miles this month as my balance is a few bob.

Chances are that it will get noticed and recinded if it happens though...;)

Just when you thought MBNA were sorting themselves out a bit....[}:)][:p]

I have just checked my Jan statement online and I have been awarded my correct spend miles (abt 1500) and I have also been awarded the double bonus miles for my spends at BP & Sainsbury's from the Jan promotion (abt 420), so everything on my account, as usual, is correct.

Baffles me Neil, although as mentioned I'm not complaining. I'm not sure what the double miles outlets are but I certainly haven't spent anything at BP or Sainsburys - just like others on here I've ended up with "bonus miles" on my statement which exactly match the figure awarded for the entire month's spend! Having double is great, just don't know why!

Sarah - you mentioned you're in the same position, did you glean anything from MBNA when you called them?

Yes, the feeling that i was talking to complete and utter idiots :)

As far as i can tell, my 'bonus' miles are the extra spend with VH and VS. I can't be bothered to work it out with a calculator to check, but doing a rough bit of math it seems about right. I will have over 22k miles coming my way at the end of the month! Super! :) Get more miles for buying flights as opposed to being on them these days!

Thanks,
Sarah

Oh well, guess I'll never know where mine came from - haven't made any VA/VH purchases. Just strikes me as almighty strange that you, me and the original poster all got a bonus exactly equivalent to the miles we earned by default - we've all exactly ended up with double what we expected[:?] I guess with you guys, unlike me, you were expecting some extra miles owing to your VA/VH purchases, but the chances of both your spends equating to a bonus award of exactly double your normal statement must be one in a million!

Cheers,
James

Have noticed that, for the second time, I've had two credits to FC miles today from my Virgin Amex. One is the correct amount, and the other is a duplicate of last month's mileage. They just don't seem to learn, do they?

Last time I managed to upgrade my flights to upper before they removed the excess miles, and was then left with a negative balance for a month. Has anyone else managed this?!

It's happened to me too - do they reclaim the miles?
