United lounge access in SFO

Next week I'm travelling to SFO in UCS, then after 4-5 hrs onto SLC in Economy with United.

Wondering if VA have any agreements with other airlines allowing UCS passengers to use their lounges in transit, or can a lounge pass be purchased for United? [?]

I don't think VS has any agreement with other airlines for transit at SFO - or indeed other airports. The one time I transited there we got into the United lounge with Star Alliance Gold cards.

Nope, and although another airline's *G card will get you in, even their own frequent fliers aren't allowed to use it when travelling economy OR domestic first class!

You CAN purchase "Red Carpet Club" membership - but honestly, for the $000's that it is per year, it's REALLY not worth it.

I was sure it was possible to purchase access to the lounge on a per visit basis for something like $50. But of course, the big question is, does the cost justify a United internal flights lounge for a few hours. [?]

If I'm really unlucky immigration will take 3hrs and leave me sprinting to catch my next flight. [:o)]

The $50 fee is not justified. See if BMI will match your VS silver with a BMI card with star gold status. Or go to a bar at the airport.

SFO has a nice bar with a view of the runway near the gate that VS uses...... useful for the VS flights if you do not have access to the clubhouse.

The United Concourse at SFO is quite large with quite a few shops and a few aviation exhibits.

Umm - as TBS says, United has its own concourse. It is an entirely different area to the side that VS use. You'd have to go through Gate A security to get to there (along with all of the questions as to why), then back out, and into the UA area afterwards. A lot of hassle, given that there are plenty of facilities in the UA concourse itself.

It does? I knew US Airways allows RCC members and vice versa in but didn't realise it extended across Star Alliance.
