I have just spent 2 hours on the phone with TACA, I have a couple of flights with them next week and decided that I just couldn't face flying in coach.
So being booked on a full Y fare I call in and ask them how much it would be to upgrade..$1000 is the answer..well let's see, their website is showing a fare of $888.92..not much good spending more on an upgrade then a new ticket will cost.So I ask them to refund my Y tickets and I will book new ones, no can do, I am on an economy ticket, they are not refundable ! Strange, I went out of my way to make the reservation in a refundable class I argue, nope, Y is not a refundable ticket class is their reply.
At this point I ask for a supervisor, after being hung up on I call back and get one, cool I think, maybe this guy knows ticket codes, nope, no such luck, but he is willing to upgrade my care for the price difference of $250, great me thinks...nope..it's a new ticket, I have not flown yet so I cannot upgrade [?], dear reader think about that one for a second, in order to upgrade I must take the flight first....dear god, my hunt is over, at long last I have found an airline dept. that has less brain cell's than VS revenue management, my search for my personal holy grail is complete.
I could go on for hrs, but what is the point, I will just take a shot at the airport.
