One alternative option is the Lloyds TSB Travel Money Card. What caught my attention is that it is a full VISA card and not just a VISA Electron, which a lot of the other pre-paid cards seem to be (e.g. Post Office), meaning it is usuable in a lot more retail outlets. However, I last used my Amex Travellers Cheque card last year so can't remember what the charges are and how they compare to the Lloyds card.

I got onto them.
They will either wait untill October then up to 12 weeks later send you a cheque, or do what I did, which was to get my money transferred back into one of my bank accounts. they reckon 15 days and will reimburse at the rates you added at.
