Lol yes. I love the Americans complaining - especially as their compensation schemes are soooo much better than ours! I have heard tell of people been trapped on planes for 5 + hours.

On the strength of that article I have bought the book online from Smiths.

Now dare I read it on my VS flight next week.....

The book has been on sale for some time and is in the bookshop in Cork Airport with a sticker on saying, 'This book costs 1 cent. However with additional taxes and charges you will be required to pay 12.95'

This one has a sticker on - 1p + 7.98 taxes etc but am geting it for 6.39. Ain't this intwewebnet thingy wonderful.

And thanks kered - am looking forward to getting it now - maybe there should be a book review section on here!

Wonder if any of the CC on VS045 next Thursday will have read it ... and what reaction I will get as I pull it out of my bag ...

I bought this book, but can't say I'm overly impressed so far.
It seems to be mainly the author being far too pleased with himself at the puns he has thought up (Ruinair, EZjet, L'eau cost airlines etc. etc.) and also some strange comments.

For example: 'Stansted Airport is connexted to Liverpool Street Station'. What does this mean? Connex never had the rail franchise for this route, but had a bad reputation and lost the franchises they did have. Does he mean that the service is as bad as Connex, and if so, why not name and shame the operator? Or is it just bad research, or a good play on words?

The book is full of this and it makes for a jarring read. Much better is the more matter of fact book 'Ryanair: How a Small Irish Airline Conquered Europe'.

I got this and read it this month whilst chilling in Barbados.
I really enjoyed it, approached it expecting it to be light hearted and therefore found it enjoyable, it's not a book to get hung up on though and if you expect it to be a 'serious' read then you've got wrong idea about this book.
