Hitting Vegas 1st May

Hey Scrooge,
Myself and my good lady are hitting Vegas on 1st May with my cousin and his wife from NJ. We fly into Newark with V on the 30th then across to LV on the 1st with Southwestern (was cheaper than direct with V! And we get to see some other relatives, albeit breifly)

I am currently bidding on some Hatton fight tickets on Ebay for thye Saturday night but if you have any contacts.....

Also hoping to get to see Love, I hear it is good.
I have been to LV 4 times before but this is the 1st trip for my lovely wife. We recently got married and this is our slightly belated honeymoon.

My cousin has an apartment booked at Hilton VC for a few nights and we are going to crash in for the first couple of nights but would like to book somewhere on the strip for the last couple. We fly out again on the 5th in the afternoon.

Any tips, advice or deals would be gratefully received.

Take care

Tim

Just got back from Vegas the other night, still recovering now!

We actually saw Love on Thurs night, it was, well, interesting. I don't know if you've seen any Cirque shows, and know what to expect, but Love seemed to be even more bizarre than what I was expecting. If you really love, excuse the pun, the Beatles, then go for it. But 2 members of our party did fall asleep for about half of it. I preferred Mystere which I saw last year, and other friends have told me 'O' is great. The gymnastics and stunts in Mystere just seemed a lot better than Love, which seemed to have a fair bit more random dancing.

Before the show on Thurs we ate at Mix, which is at the top of the new hotel 'The Hotel' at the south end of the strip. Great restaurant, great food. http://www.mandalaybay.com/thehotel/mix.aspx If you do go, see if you can ask for a table outside! The restaurant is on the 64th floor of the hotel (good luck finding it from the lobby!) and they have some tables on like a balcony outside, with great views of the strip at one end and the airport and the mountains at the other end.

We stayed in the Bellagio this year, and I stayed at the Wynn last year. Both were great and it would be hard to pick between them. A colleague stayed at Encore (the new Wynn hotel) this year and he said it was nice, and a bit quieter than the Wynn, but he preferred the rooms at the Wynn. Room rates are great in Vegas right now, they're all very competitive.

Have a great trip!

aft1981,

Many thanks for that.
I have seen 'O' but my wife has not seen any Cirque shows but loves the Beatles so we will give Love a bash.
I have previously stayed at Luxor, Manadalay Bay and MGM a couple of times. I think I would like to try Bellagio with a fountain view if possible.
I will take a look at Mix too, thanks.
Where is good for Sushi, will be another first for my wife. Such a sheltered life she has led!!!

When it comes to Ricky Hatton tickets, forget it, I can't get them for myself, to many Brits come over for his fights, good luck though.

I have not seen Love yet, I have seen the rest, I only liked two of them 'o' and KA, the others, well....yeah ok....

We are heading out of town on the first, we will be in Mexico for a week, please leave at least part of the town standing.

Love is worth giving a miss tbh - I love Cirque but fell asleep during this bore. Ricky Hatton tickets are easy to get this side of the pond and I have a contact for the other if you are stuck.

To answer Thompsp's question about sushi (although I bow down to Scrooge's superior local knowledge) the best consistent Sushi I've had in Vegas is the Vegas Nobu - which I've found to be superior to the London, New York, and LA versions

There's a constant joke in Vegas about the place you get the best fish in the world (Vegas) is in the middle of the desert...

Which Hilton GVC? (there are three).I'm not a Bellagio fan( a week there was a week too long) but lots of people here are. Wynn/ Venetian?? There are some cracking deals on priceline/hotwire currently too.
