I can see the logic in most of these. But, Eindhoven[?] I'm sure there's a very good reason...

Philips have a big operation in Eindhoven.

They have a lot of UK facilities within the Gatwick catchment area - in Guildford, Redhill, Reigate, etc.

I'd guess this was the main reason, to try and tap the Philips traffic.

That would be a good reason!

Which raises the question, in my mind anyway, whether an airline would do something like this on spec, or would they have a deal already lined up with Philips?

I would expect and hope they have a contract in place to be the main carrier. It would seem rather foolhardy to launch a route without one.

Eindhoven is served twice daily by Ryanair from STN, and I think VLM, from LCY.
It's a lovely area. Honest, esp little town called 's-Hertogenbosch.

Or 'Den Bosch' (pronounced 'Den Bos') as the locals call it. Less of a mouthful [8D].

ISTR KLM used to operate Eindhoven from LHR on the Fokker 50, but transferred it to LCY on VLM metal as part of the VLM takeover/Cityjet merger.

Yup, that's true - I did that trip at Easter 2004 for work. Thought I'd written a TR at the time, but can't find it....

Cheers

EI have got some fantastic fares ex-LGW. I recently managed to find a return to Vienna for 24 including taxes! [^]
