HELP WANTED...... cheap flights
my inlaws live in Malta and looking for cheap flights out there for me,the wife and four kids.
Any of you frequent flyers out there help me as looking at going out in April

You have picked a really busy time with it being Easter in April, and this year, like is 2008, the schools all seem to be doing a different thing. What this is basically meaning, is that during the whole month of April there will be some schools on Easter break and this will just give all the airlines/travel companies an excuse to increase the prices.

The best advise for the LCC's is to book early, travel light and try and avoid as many of their add on costs as possible.

It really is just going to be a case of trawling through all the LCC's sites, places like Expedia/Last Minute and just seeing what is about and who is the cheapest, but I don't think any will be that cheap.

Air Malta (I think) fly from Heathrow, or you could try people like KLM (via Amsterdam). Make sure you check 'full service' prices as they could be comparable to Easyjet/Ryanair when you take the add-ons into consideration.

This site gives a reasonable overview of non LCC. Timing woudl be a major factor here. The Easyjet price matrix for April has outbound flights ranging from £40 to over £100 and from £25 for the return.

If you decide to fly with Easyjet, just make sure that you untick every add-on (ie. Speedy Boarding and travel insurance) to get the price down. You should be able to board before most people anyway with children.

Type in "ANY LONDON" to "MALTA" and select your MONTH (not date) out and back. It will then display a nice graph with the prices..

Also, Malta has some charter flights, so also try people like http://www.maltadirect.com/ which is a holiday company owned by Air Malta.

To be fair to EZY, Speedy Boarding, luggage and insurance have to be selected not deselected, during the booking process. It will ask "are you sure you don't want x", but the default is flight only.

If any of your offspring are under 5 you'll board after Speedy Boarders and before the rest of the passengers - and on a holiday flight there aren't that many Speedy Boarders.

Must have changed then as last time I flew Easyjet, everything was already selected and it was up to you to deselect everything! xx(

easyJet have really upped their game recently - their website is one of the nicest to use when booking, and they have removed the 'opt outs' recently.

I booked a flight for my wife today (a day return to Glasgow) and Easyjet were easily the cheapest.

Their website is excellent to use - by selecting 'London' for the departure airport it gave you all the prices for LGW, STN & LTN over a three day spread.

As others have said, it asked if you wanted to 'select' the extra's.
