Orient Express London to Venice

DL the Elder and I are looking to plan our next jaunt :D .One suggestion she's come up with is a trip on the Orient Express from London to Venice (as one of the best holidays she's ever had was a rail journey to Italy with my father over fifty years ago).
Does anyone have any experience on the OE (on any of it's routings) for an extended journey?
Thanks
DL

I had it booked for me and the Then Mr HG as a gift for a signifacnt birthday. Sorry but 2 days plus without any showers is not nice - and we travelled in the "best" coach.
NEVER again - how you can be expected to dress for supper after just a flannel wash is beyond me (and many others given the general "aroma" when we disembarked in Venice). We didnt use our tickets for the way home and flew

Unlike its counterpart, the Eastern & Orient Express has en-suite showers and a WC in the cabin: http://www.orient-express.com/web/eoe/cabins.jsp

Never done it, always wanted to but always had that nagging doubt as to whether the experience would truly live up to what I had imagined.

If I ever get my husband to India on vacation I quite fancy this though: http://maharajaexpress.org

Just going OT for a second...That still seems strange to me :P

But that train certainly looks impressive.

DL if you get to see this post in time, watch or record ITV at 9pm - "David Suchet on the Orient Express" is on.
