US internal flights

Hi,

I'm trying to book internal flights, and am a bit puzzled about putting down names. There are the usual dire warnings about having to declare all names, as they appear on your passport, but we both have 2 middle names and there is only space to put one down. What to do? Should I squash both middle names into one space? If I only put one down, will we be stopped from flying????

I really wish they wouldn't make something so simple so fraught..... :0

I don't think I've ever put my middle name down for any flight, either international or domestic in the US. The other half has two middle names, but on any documents (like on the old green visa waiver forms etc) we only ever put one and never had a problem.

The key thing is getting your first and surname correct, so I wouldn't worry to much.

I've never put a middle name on booking for literally a hundred US domestic flights.

As a US based flyer, typically middle names are not even noted on the ticket as there is only a certain number of characters used.

Just don't put down a middle name that is different than the one on your passport if you put one in at all. I typically fly with just my middle initial on the printed ticket information and have never been asked about it.

Had to enter a middle initial every now and then, but the family (Surname)and given (first) names are the important ones.

Thanks everyone - I know this is something that's been talked about here before, for flights from the UK, but it was the fact that this US site was telling you one thing and then not allowing you to - do what they asked! I have been looking though and the only site that does seem to provide enough space is Expedia.... then again, the thought occurs that some people may have more than 2 middle names. Which is just plain greedy....;)

Yeah, most sites say to provide your middle name if it is also on your government-issued ID. But, still, you really don't NEED to.

Unless, of course, you and your father both have the same first and last names. :P

I had two JetBlue bookings last year - one with my middle name, one without. Didn't make a difference. :)
