I got an email from VS today headed 'By Invitation Only', which sounded exciting at first (I wondered, was I to be made an honorary UNIQ or something...) - until I opened it and found it was an 'invitation' to join a scheme where you can earn miles for completing opinion surveys.

I'm probably going to give it a go as I'd at least get 500 miles for doing my first one, but my question is - is anyone else doing this on a regular basis, and is it a worthwhile source of miles in terms of the relative time commitment?

I have no problem spending a few minutes here or there, but not going to be impressed if I get some 10 page survey and at the end of it all, only get 5 miles for my trouble...

I had a similar e-mail and was quite happy to consider it, until I looked at the endless list of questions they asked before I started the first survey. Questions regarding income, age, phone number, what colour underwear I was wearing (well not really). I binned it.

I had a look but have declined.

Seems like too much trouble for what is may be worth.

I do this and have had about five thousand miles from it so far. You only have to complete the surveys you want. They vary in points and you get a token amount even if you are not eligible to do the full survey.

I have been a member for a few years now and have received quite a few thousand miles from it. As already mentioned you can choose which surveys you want to complete and some are quite interesting. It isn't something that will show an instant return of loads of miles, but it can certainly help build up your balances at times. You can also transfer your erewards points to other programmes like Hilton Honors.

I'd say it's worth it. I do this regularly and I earn about 8000 miles a year doing this.

The surveys seem to come in bursts though as I can go weeks and hear nothing, then can suddenly get 3 surveys in 1 day some days. You do have to respond quickly and they don't last long and many surveys are still not iOS compatible either.

I avoid those that are clearly "Financial Advice" orientated, but as others have said you can pull out of a survey if it is not for you

I tried it, then realized that life has more to offer for the time involved.

I did it & got right to the last page where it asked for my home address - they already had 2 email addresses so I binned it that stage. I get enough rubbish through the letterbox without inviting more.

I've never had any post from erewards, only emails.

Fair enough Neil. I just cannot understand why they would want a home address for e-surveys.

Some of the rewards are in physical form so they might need to send them to you, others like miles aren't obviously.

I just found the initial info gathering to be rather invasive. Why do erewards need to know so many personal details? For example: what difference does it make if I have 2 computers or 22; why is it necessary for them to have my phone number, e-mail AND my home address; why do they need to know which car hire company I use? Either they want 'members' to complete surveys or they don't.

It allows you them to tailor the surveys they send to you. What is the point in them sending me surveys for anything say child related, or about android phones when I have neither. If they don't ask such information initially they end up wasting everyone's time.

Both I and my other half got the same email. I was debating whether to sign up or not, but am worried about what they want to do with my personal details.

I have also been a member of e-rewards for a couple of years and like the others who are members only get a few e-mails through and nothing through the post. It does help with the mileage though have a few 1,000 through during the time and you do get partial credits and the reward miles go through very quickly to your account.Its something for nothing and if you have the time why not.

PS. Did anyone get the Virgin Atlantic e-mail questionnaire from them today asking about their experience of using and collecting airmiles.

I'm a member, have been for a few years. You are told at the beginning of the survey approx how long the survey is...some are 5 mins, while others can be 20 mins.... You then choose whether you would like to take part.

I joined, got a thousand miles and now have unsubscribed. To put your mind at rest, I have had no unsolicited calls, e-mails or post. I just lost interest in spending the time filling in questionairs.

Particularly when you get some way in and get the "well, you underwhelming prole, we have no interest in your opinion" message (I paraphrase, of course) and get thrown out with only a partial credit to warm you throug the cold winter evenings.

That said, you can usually read the runes of the survey and no-one's ever going to check up as to whether you really do run a company with 100,000 employees.... :w

I do these whenever I can, and now as am waiting for P45 at work, I seem to be able to find a lot of time to do them.

I was enrolled through BMI when they were running a promotion and managed to rack up many thousand miles quite quickly. When BMI stopped their partnership with e-Rewards I could then choose where I put the miles, I did BA for a bit before turning all of my points earning to the Dark Side as it looks as if I will only be able to do short haul trips for a few years now.

ETA - Work for Hong Kong Airlines in London so waiting for the shut down, not actively courting redundancy but can see the writing on the wall!

Would you not be better waiting until you get 6500 points for 2000 miles. On the current way you are doing it you are having to earn 8000 points for 2000 miles, which means over a year you would earn at least another 2000 miles for completing the same amount of surveys.

I used to do this, and often got full surveys due to my profession.

However, I found the time invested was not worth the minor rewards I gained...

In other words, I made the decision to quit because it took me waaaay to long to gain enough rewards to really make a difference.

Personal choice though...
