Hilton Terminal 4

We are flying from T4 in a few weeks and want to book the Hilton there for ease of access. Currently the best rate I can find is £164. Is this typical, in which case I might as well book it now, or am I likely to get a better price if I wait a while?
Many thanks.

Hi gilly
We booked the Hilton Terminal 4 on Lastminute.com it was disguised as one of their secret hotels, but very obviously the Hilton being the only 4* hotel at Terminal 4. The basic room was £190 and we had an executive room for £150. The executive room would have been £250 booking direct with Hilton. It might be worth taking a look to see if there is availability on the night you need.

gilly, as the previous recommendation - go to lastminute.com and their 'secret hotels'. One of the 4* mentioned would seem to be the Hilton T4 coz the trip advisors comments have the same amount

and the hotel description is exactly the same.
I followed advice on this forum a week ago re 'secret hotels' via last minute.com and bagged 3 rooms at Sofitel T5 for hundreds of pounds less than the hotel prices.
A bit of Sunday afternoon research for you

good luck

gilly I've just looked on Lastminute.com and they are no longer saying the hotel is at Terminal 4. However as Hev60 says the Tripadvisors comments will match currently 1,478 reviews.I Checked your itinerary and they have an executive room for 1st april for £150 under Secret Hotels.

Thanks very much, have just booked it and yes, it's the hilton at T4. I have never booked one of the Secret hotels before, but this was pretty painless
Many thanks.

Tip:
don't touch the bottles in the fridge.
We usually stay at the airport on the night before departure and take a bottle of bubbly to start the holiday.
I made the mistake of moving a few bottles around to make room in the fridge and when I went to checkout found I had a massive bar bill.
The fridge has sensors so when you lift a bottle it registers on your bill.
It wasn't a real problem as they cancelled it when I gasped at the bill and said I hadn't drunk anything.

Right, definitely won't do that then. Thanks for the tip.

Gill, really pleased you managed to save some money. Don't worry about the mini bar. They have a free bar in the executive lounge in the evening for a few hours.

I think that is only if you have booked an executive room.
Please tell me I'm wrong and that Gatwick Hilton has one I can use on my next trip.

Or you're a Diamond Hilton Honors member or a guest of someone who is.
And, if planning to arrive late, check the time they provide complimentary drinks. In many Hilton Exec Lounges it is only up to 8, possibly 9, pm. The lounge will be open before and after those times, but the alcohol will be under lock and key.

You sometimes get upgraded as a gold member too, though didn't happen the two times at Hiltons at Heathrow (T4 and the "T5")

The Hilton at Heathrow Terminal 4 serves unlimited alcoholic beverages, and canapés in the executive lounge between 6pm - 8.30pm. Soft drinks and other snacks are served outside those hours.
The Gatwick Hilton does have an executive lounge but has stated you need to be have booked an executive room or be a HH Diamond member to use it.

Is it different at the Hilton T4? I thought all Hiltons had the same rule for Exec Lounge access i.e.vbooked / upgraded to Exec Room or Diamond membership or in as a guest of someone who has access.

phj, it is the same at Terminal 4. I have been in Hilton hotels where guests have been upgraded to an executive room but not given access to the lounge. Also HH Gold members can be refused access if the lounge is busy.

y) Keep the proles out, that's what I say.
More seriously, it seems a bit odd for Hilton, usually a stickler for rules, to bend them in that way as the HH website is quite clear
"If you are an HHonors guest with Gold status, you and up to one additional registered guest in the same room will be granted complimentary access to the Executive Floor Lounge only if you receive a room upgrade to the Executive Floor or an upgrade to a room type that confers Executive Floor Lounge access benefits."

I have a room booked at Gatwick through Avios points.
I called the hotel yesterday to ask how much it would cost to upgrade to an Executive room with access to the lounge.
First reply was, "We have deluxe rooms available."
Me, "No, it's Executive I'm enquiring about, with access to the executive lounge."
Reply, "Yes we have an executive room available."
Me, "OK, how much to upgrade?"
Reply, "I'm sorry I can't quote that."
Doh!!!
Me, "Ok I'll speak to someone on the desk when I get there."
I expect about £30 and since the room is only 2 sq. meters larger if it's any more then I'll just spend the £30 in the bar.

Given Hilton bar prices, that won't take long.

Gatwick Hilton.
At the desk, price of upgrade should be £50 but we can do it for £30.
Fine we'll have it.
And have just sampled some excellent afternoon tea.
Will be back later for the bar.
