Hong Kong being a rare place with two to choice from.

Currently on offer Kowloon, but the Island one looks stunning however extra £85/night.

Anyone stayed at either. The obvious answer will be yes, but need to justify :w

Kowloon is nice but a star less than Island.
KLN is quite old - must be over 30 years although has had a good refurbish.

Island is relatively new and still looks and feels like it opened last year. Spacious, grand, stylish but not pretentious or fuddy duddy (like the Mandarin or Penn).
You will likely want to move in.

"Timelessly elegant", might I suggest?

I've stayed at the Island Shangri La a number of times and each one I was made to feel like a king.

That being said, it is Shangri La policy to do so ..... therefore a hard one to judge. For the amount you are talking though, I would favour staying on the island above Kowloon y)

We stayed at Kowloon earlier this month - it was convenient - near Nathan Road, MTR, steam ferry and Harbour City. I felt a bit claustrophobic with no outside swimming pool or sunbeds - this would definitely be better at the Island.
We ate at the Shang Palace which was dreadful - definitely not worth the price and very definitely not worth two Michelin stars. The breakfast, Tapas Bar and especially the High Tea were excellent!
We were treated fantastically - nothing was too much bother and the staff genuinely seemed to want to help us make the most of our time in the city. We were upgraded to a lovely room overlooking Hong Kong.

I've stayed in both - and personally, I believe there are much better options than either in both Kowloon as well as HK Island.

If I had to pick one out of the two, the Island SL has the edge - but then you're paying for that edge too...

Unfortunately only a selection of some hotels available due to deal we've got. Which even with the extra for the Island one, still a steal..
