Returning to the scene of the crime ......

Good evening all from the Hilton Tower Bridge executive lounge - yep I came back.

Thanks to my house being a construction site it did not take too much convincing to meet a fellow vflyer on their whistle stop trip through London to recreate some of our drunken banter from last Thursday ):

Not really too much to add other than to echo my posts from here last week. This hotel is very well suited to myself with friendly staff (for the most part), fantastic rooms and the view from here is incredible. I have moved seats a few times now to take in the varying vistas of London. It is a weird thing staying in a hotel in your home town, but something that I would recommend doing at least once given the change in perspective that it affords. For example, I have only just realised how I know the manhattan skyline so much better than that of the city on my own doorstep. Scary thought.

Ahh, hors d'oeuvres have arrived :D

I was there on Wednesday night, but could only spent a short time in the Lounge as I had to get back up to Islington for a meal (rather the reverse of the week before). It does have some good views, but rather curiously none of the river (leastways we've never had a room with such a view). My favourite lounge for the views is the Hilton in Manchester, including the view straight down through the floor.

Ha no such luck. Almost finished their supply of becks..... It's the one beer they are not restocking. Either they have run out or noticed I'm the only one drinking it and are limiting consumption. Evidently my reputation precedes me.

As you're in a beer drinking mood can I suggest an outing to The Rake on Winchester Walk in Borough Market? Not terribly upmarket (ie not at all upmarket), but, my, what a selection of beers. About a 10 minutes stagger, or a 5 minutes brisk walk. Up to London Bridge station, cut though to the Shard, right to Borough High Street then straight across into the Market on the road. A little way through and Winchester Walk is on the right.

Ah Joey spent many a night in the executive lounge there, love the outdoor terrace and the views of the Shard. Always friendly staff, stocks of drinks and a reasonable food selection.

Have a good evening :D

Make the most of your stay, it's my number two choice when down in "sin city".
If the weather is good get some fresh air on the patio, not the most comfortable stools but great view of the Shard.
