Hi,

Has anyone here visited Lake Havasu and, if so, would you recommend as a place to stay?

I've bagged a couple of UC reward flights to LA :) but am casting around as to where to go from there. Timing is April, what's the weather typically like at that time???

Thanks in advance!

I would highly recommend Hawaii....depending on how long you are in the area for. If not San Fran, San Diego, Seattle?

I've never been there but have a friend who lives and runs a business there, I know it's not too far from Vegas as he goes there often. The pics I've seen of the place make it look very nice.

If you have any specific questions, about the place I can email them him and ask.

I have visited a few times when driving up by the river. Have to say it is ok for an overnight stay but in my opinion that's long enough.
It is quite 'touristy' but there are plenty of options for water sports , if that rocks your boat (so to speak!). Although there is plenty of green grass, and of course water, it is in the desert and has a climate to match. We were their in November and it was very pleasant, air conditioned accommodation is a must.
Think we stayed in a Hampton Inn or similar and on an earlier one at a 'bungalow' in a lake side 'resort'. That has probably been demolished by now, if not it should be!

I have stayed there. I shall ask HQ if she can remember what the place was called.

Clare, as others have mentioned its ok for a day visit but not to stay for any length of time, have you been to Palm Springs that will be nice and warm then and San Diego lots to do. Or Sedona is very nice. linda

I second all of the above. Palm Springs in particular is fab. Lake Havasu is worth a day visit just to see THE bridge, but I wouldn't recommend staying longer. San Diego y) . Sedona y) .

Thanks for all your thoughts, that pretty much confirms what I thought might be the case with the area.

We have been to San Francisco before, also Sedona and Palm Springs. Oh, and a brief stay in San Diego too - somehow though, Hawaii isn't somehwere we've been drawn to. Back to the maps then :)

All ready for your trip Linda?

Hi Clare,

The MIL's funeral was yesterday, not as bad as expected a very long day as we hit the Dartford crossing at 5o'clock and queued for nearly 3/4 an hour.
Had my stitches out today its just the salt mouthwashes they are really awful, but the dentist is really pleased and has said everything is really good, still a bit tender though.

Have started making piles of clothes and toiletries and washing and ironing everything that we might take, not a lot actually as its still going to be very hot in the 90's so no heavy weight stuff, will have to run for the car when we get back for my warm coat which I'm leaving inside.

Will say an hello from the clubhouse when we get there. Regards linda y)

Clare have you been to ant of the Utah state parks Zion and Bryce they will be spectacular in April could well still be snow around but I am sure we went one year at the end of April and all the roads had been cleared no one around and the scenery to die for. Its a bit of a trek from LA but from Vegas only a couple of hours, just a thought. Lin

I wasn't drawn to Hawaii but went to appease Mr DL ( seeing as I normally get my own way I thought he was due a victory ;) ).
I loved the place and wished we'd had much longer there.
Try it - I guarantee you won't be disappointed :) .

I also loved Hawaii... In fact, I haven't met anyone who has been and has not enjoyed it...

Linda,

Glad Friday went off ok... the gods weren't against you either with the Dartford Crossing. I swear that crossing gets worse with each passing day, and Friday can be much worse

Onwards and upwards with the dental stuff, hopefully the salt washes are doing their magic? I think you need to get away... :)
