Heathrow T2 Lounges

Hello All

I hope you are all well...

I will be taking Mrs Armstrong to Stockholm in May so getting some of the booking done now. I will ideally be flying with SAS so that I can take the points over to my VS account and will no doubt book on Shops Away!

Whilst T2 is shiny and new is there any need to visit one of the Lounges. I can only find one on the website the 'Plaza Premium' which whilst looking around does not have very good reviews!

The website is also very unclear on what you get for the £50 it will cost 'per hour' too as this appears it how its booked.

What are your views V-Flyers - to Lounge or not to Lounge!?

Dan

It was fine as place to sit away from the terminal and be able to work. Looking at my Priority Pass t&c I see I'd be limited to two alcoholic drinks, which is clearly not playing the game, frankly. Food looked ok, papers, coffee, soft drinks....

For a shared lounge Plaza Premium is above average IMHO. Not sure I'd pay the high on-the-door price, but for Priority Pass it's fine. The food is certainly better than your normal shared lounge soup & snacks.

Thanks for your feedback

I only fly on Holiday so once / twice a year tops so I have never bothered with Priority Pass. However with upto 6 flights planned I may have to look into it!

If you didn't have PP would you bother with going - I would guess T2 is lovely as its brand new!

Correct.

If you don't have lounge access courtesy of an airline gold card, or Priority Pass, then the general departure area is perfectly fine to spend time..
A couple of good places to eat n drink too.

If you applied for an Amex Platinum card you would get a free Priority Pass which would allow you to get in to the Plaza Premium lounge (but the annual fee is £450).

Or you could apply for an Amex Gold which gives you x2 free passes to a lounge a yer (it is free in the first year).

Or you could get a half price Priority Pass card via Amazon local:

Although no Clubhouse the reviews have not be bad at all for this lounge:

T2 is a lovely terminal.

I don't know how busy it is now as more airlines will have moved over since I was last there, but it is very spacious with loads of seating and charging points for phones, laptops, iPads etc. It also has a mezzanine area with shops including a John Lewis. There are several eating areas from high-end to fast food (but not places like Burger King or McDonalds) and really you don't need a lounge if you are going to have to pay for admission

Thanks All..!

Perhaps one day I shall apply for a fancy Amex, but to be honest for the price it wouldn't be worth it, for me anyway!

I guess as I only have to be there for 2 hours before the flight (Sweden, so it is 2 hours!?) the idea of paying for a lounge is a bit much...

On the subject of T2, can anyone recommend the best place for breakfast? I'm there next week ahead of a dreaded UA flight to ORD so want to have a decent breakfast as the food on the plane will no doubt be awful!

If you are flying UA and have access to the new United lounge breakfast is great there.

There are several in T2. You can see the ones that are listed as being after security and three of them are close together in the main area. They all look good.

I used my Priority Pass to get into the new United lounge in T2B recently when flying to ABZ with VS
It's a bit of a hike (10 min walk) but as stunning as the new terminal 2.

Glad to hear that as it is the lounge ANA use for flights from LHR. As we will be evicted from our hotel at midday and our ANA flight is not until 7.30 we will be spending quite a few hours in there!

Hope they have a good Gin selection ):

I don't have a priority pass or status with UA, so I'll just be in a terminal restaurant. Will have to have a wander round and see what I can find.

LucyLu,
T2 is lovely with loads of areas to relax and eat if need be. Since it opened I haven't used lounge access simply because it is so nice. Having said that, it was towards the end of last year when I used it and more airlines may well have transferred over but it is a delight of a terminal.

I've seen the 2 drink limit somewhere recently, but never seen it enforced and I think it was a self serve place as well. Not even sure where that was (done LGW South No 1, Vegas Club, Vegas Centurion, Aspire BHX, Dublin T1 lounge (actually think it was there), BA Club Chicago, BA Club T5, BHX Escape and Hannover Club in last two months).

Plaza Premium T2....according to the Priority Pass App. Has a staffed bar, not self service.
