These things are organised months in advance and the police and highways agency consider all sorts of factors in the decision to allow loads like this.

Half term would be a very minor factor in the scheme of things.

so sad that they are going to the scrap yard. What an undignified way to end their lives.

Exactly. Stuff like this, wide loads etc should be done at 3am or something

I have flown into Kemble a few times and have seen the planes to be scrapped there. It is always sad to see them, but there is big bucks in scrapping them.

This is a 747 being flown in to be scrapped: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNCaMcc8k4o
This is Episode 1 of some of the planes there a while back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiK8AdkzRrQ
And this is still the world's largest, I think, in Tucson, Arizona: Davis-Monthan AFB:

I have flown over that and it is just immense.

But even if they start at 3am doesn't the average speed mean they'll be inevitably disrupting someone, somewhere?

Quite! Just like the wings of the A380 being transported from Wales to Toulouse!
