I am not usually one to write trip reports but having read some fairly negative posts recently I thought it may be useful to pass on my experience.
Have flown with VS many times in the past and always received fair to good service but on this flight everything as about as close to perfect as it could have been.

Emigration @ V C Bird and the terminal itself were as chaotic as always but we booked the Big Banana Lounge ( recommended, £27 each) to avoid the mayhem of the terminal.
The new terminal is coming along well so maybe things will be different next time.

Once boarding commenced everything was very orderly. All passengers were loaded and we took off on time.

Before take off we got the usual fizzy wine which was very nice.
After take off we were offered a drink from the bar.
The meal was served shortly after take off and wine was also offered with meal. Had the chicken option, wife had pasta and none of the now legendary mushrooms were seen. Smoked salmon starter and cheesecake desert.
Baily's served after meal and there was no issue getting a G&T later in the flight.
Shortly before landing full English breakfast was very good
Over all one of the best airline food experiences I have had for a very long time.

The cabin crew were all so nice as well as professional.

The refurbished 747 looked very good and spacious, even in economy and the entertainment system was faultless and had very comprehensive content.
Arrive LGW slightly ahead of schedule and disembarked with maximum efficiency.

So well done Virgin, if you can provide this level of service going forward even those who are never satisfied would have trouble finding something to complain about.

Pleased to hear you had a good experience. Let's hope it is the start of many more positive TRs for Virgin.
