So the return trip started fine, with an easy ride to the airport and check in was god, as was the security and lounge.

Passing through the third security channel at the gate, you wander how much water and juice will be left in the bags after the first two checks. But guess, better safe than sorry.

If you have read my outbound TR, you will know that the flight crew was very much aware of me being gold member (first flight since becoming gold) which was such a good experience.

Thus on the return flight two days later, I was really looking forward to the same experience.

Let me start by saying the trip, the crew, the aircraft etc was an absolute treat and everything went very well. I was even asked if I wanted my afternoon tea at the bar, as I was sitting there working. Great…

However, having experienced such a great FSM on the outbound, it was a disappointment only two days later, not to get any acknowledgment what so ever. I was even asked by the FSM on this flight when she came round to introduce herself if I had flown with virgin before. A quick glance at the passenger manifest would have told her, yes… to be honest, not a big deal, but again, if it is meant to be standard, then consistency should be in place.

A comment on the menu. I have been on this flight 5 times since August, and the mneu has been the same on most of the flights, Nothing wrong with the quality,m but you do get tired of crab & advocado and chicken kebab, as the other choices do not really appeal... Going again in March, so perhaps it will have changed.

Same comments as before with regards to the UC suite as well as cabin. Great for a business class ticket, but downgrade compared to old UC suite.

But as mentioned, all in all a great trip once again with VS…

And there you have it, FSM on the ball = great flight, FSM with average leadership skills = OK flight. This is why it is worth commenting.

Thanks for the inbound TR y) I have to agree with you, Jen, the small acknowledgements really to add that little bit of sparkle to the experience. I flew Y back from RAK last week but was welcomed back by name when I boarded :D

Thanks for the TR's, interesting comparison and as Slinky said it highlights the importance of a good FSM.

Thanks for the TR

I have to concur with Slinky, it is the calibre of the FSM that determines the quality of the on board service

Never ceases to amaze me the number of checks at DXB
