Just a quick report this one, mainly because I slept through most of the flight :)

I got to the airport with a colleague at around 4pm. The UC check-in had only one passenger at it so we were quickly seen. I did a paid for upgrade to PE as it worked out cheaper than a miles + money upgrade from the X I was on. My colleague opted for the $50 extra leg room seats. I could have sworn that it was only the middle seats of rows 33 and 34 that were extra leg room as I had pre-checked in to 33C and could not chose the middle rows. At check-in the agent offered the H & K seats as well and my colleague opted for 33K.

So we both spent the next five and a half hours in the Clubhouse where we were served by a most wonderful lady (N) who could not do enough for us. Needless to say I have sent a compliment in to Virgin to let them know that it is people like her that make the big differences.

It was my colleagues first visit to a Clubhouse and he was amazed with the service (and more importantly, the free champagne and food). The food score for this report is based on the food we had in the Clubhouse as I opted to skip the inflight meal.

As always, our flight was called all too soon and we left to board the plane. Security was quick, the priority line was working well and I was settled into my seat quickly. The inflight crew were the only average part of this trip, maybe because of the last few flights where I have been welcomed by name (I'm Au), but not on this one, nor was I wasn't offered a pre-flight drink and had to ask the "chatting" crew for one. I started watching Sherlock Holmes but got half way through and decided that sleep was a better way to spend my time. The next time I opened my eyes we were descending into London :)

The crew didn't wait for all the UC passengers to disembark before letting the PE passengers go so the CSD had to remind them to hold them back, I'd just sneaked through at this point so I continued on my way :|

Iris was working fine and although the queues in immigration weren't huge, it was probably a 10 minute time saving and I got down to baggage reclaim to await my bags - fingers crossed this time.

And.... hooray! There it was in the first batch off - I've never been so happy to see a boring black container of clothes and toileteries in my life :D

The plane was Mis' Behavin' but this time, she was perfectly behaved.

Last week was my first time with VS out of JFK and I was confused if I could use the Priority/Biz and 1st class lane at security. I had a PE ticket and a VS Gold card.
Can I use the biz class lane next time ?

I've used the priority lane at JFK when travelling PE, and I'm not Gold. They seem to use it as a 'non-economy' line.

I've tried to use the priority lane with an Econonmy ticket and and Au card and I got sent down the slow zig-zag lane :(

Its a bit of a come-down after champers in the clubhouse :)

Thanks for the TR y)
So we both spent the next five and a half hours in the Clubhouse

:0 That is some going in such a relatively small Clubhouse - no wonder your friend was impressed with the food and beverages on offer :D

Is it just me or is the convoluted way of gaining internet access in the Clubhouse a bit of a pain??

Thanks once again

I have terrible trouble with Wi-Fi at the JFK CH on more than one occasion. I wrote to VS customer relations via the website after my last experience in July, but apart from the automated: "We'll forward any other comments/suggestions on to the relevant people" I have heard nothing more.

It should be such a simple fix in this day and age.

Cheers

Martin

My colleague and I also had trouble connecting. After explaining to them that the problem wasn't with our laptops, they eventually rebooted the router and we were able to connect, albeit with rather limited bandwidth.

I think it's a constant problem in the JFK Clubhouse as I've never been able to use the Wi-fi in there and it's been quite some time since I was last there.

Never had a problem with connecting to WiFi in US Clubhouses, but it is noticeable how many times a router reboot is performed. Speaks to me that the problems are with VS's supplier / hardware!
