So, after a wonderful 2 weeks in Grenada, it was time to return home. It wasn't such a painful task as it is normally, as whilst we were on our holiday, we booked a further UC trip to Antigua/Grenada for May 2015
On our arrival at Maurice Bishop International, we were met by VS ground crew who assisted Mrs J and I to the UC check in area. After a matter of minutes, our bags were gone and we were being shown to our golf cart to take us to the lounge. Now, the lounge is far from a CH, but very nice none the less. A good selection of drinks/snacks and in general, a pleasant place to be prior to our flight. Certainly beats waiting around the departure hall.
Flight was delayed by an hour due to heavy rain. After our short delay, we were soon boarding.
I was surprised by how busy the flight was departing from GND. The UC cabin was more than half full and PE/EC both looked fairly busy. We took off heading for a short hop to St Lucia. The remainder of the UC and PE cabins were filled from passengers joining the aircraft. We were advised that 243 pax in total for the flight back to LGW. So a good load indeed.
We were handed another round of pre flight drinks, which went down a treat. I don't normally drink alcohol on our return flights, but as we had had a fantastic holiday, I thought it would finish it off nicely. The champagne went down very well
The FSM was very pro-active on this leg of the journey. She came and welcomed Mrs J and I back onboard, amongst a few others which I thought was a nice touch. We were looked after by a male CC member, who provided a 1st class service. Nothing was too much effort for him and he was very attentive.
The meal was served, although now I can't really remember what the choices were, but it was delicious. Far better than previous meals we have had on return flights. (I can post photographs if anyone wishes). Finished off my meal with a Grey Goose which went down very well
After meal service, Mrs J and I got our heads down and managed a good 5 hours before being woken for breakfast. Landing was fine into LGW and we were only 10 minutes late as the captain had made time up
A very good return flight which matched our experience from our outbound journey. An email was sent to Crawley Towers with our compliments and our great service received from Dublin.
We received a pair of VS airplane key rings for our "kind words", which I actually thought was a very nice touch indeed, especially as were not expecting anything.
Thanks for taking the time to read!
Dan
