After 2 weeks in California and then 5 nights in the Cosmo in Vegas our honeymoon had come to and end.

After catching an Uber to LAS we easily found the check in area and quickly made our way to an open desk. They were selling upgrades to Upper for $1500 each which was a well out of our range so despite my wife's best efforts she had to accept we would be 'slumming' it in PE after our wonderful flight out in Upper. I did say a month before that we could have used the rest of our miles instead of the PE upgrade voucher but she was set on NY next year so we held them back for that instead.

After going through the 'fast track' security (which was slower than the normal line) we had just over an hour until boarding so caught the train from E over to the D concourse to make use of the Amex Centurion lounge via our Platinum cards. It was pretty busy but we found a comfy seat to relax in. My wife made use of the printers to get a head start on work so i went to the bar. It had a fairly decent selection of beers and spirits so I sampled a few of these whilst my wife had a couple glasses of prosecco. There was a hot buffet but I wasn't that hungry so just had a small plate of beef stew which wasn't too bad. We lost track of time and had a bit of a panic thinking we would be pushing it but the train back took less than a minute and boarding was late opening so we ended up timing it perfectly.

We had the last row in PE upstairs in the bubble and the seats were pretty spacious and the IFE seemed to be working fine. We managed to get 2 glasses of fizz before take off then some wine before and during the meal. I had the pork and the wife had the mushroom veggie option which looked a bit gross so she ended up having some of mine. After the lights went off i reclined and put on a film. Can't rememeber the name but it was a comedy with John Cena not too bad. Then i put on the classic Goonies which was as good as I remember.

The problem with the flight was it was just too early for a night flight and I found it hard to sleep when it was only 8pm in my head! I did manage to doze off for an hour but that was it. Breakfast was a bit poor, a pain au chocolat and some fruit which I forced down.

I managed to get through another film before we landed, about 45 mins early. Unfortunately despite seeing 3 of our bags come off straight away the last one was pretty much the very last off! At least we were still early enough that we were able to get an earlier National Express bus home.

Overall if it wasn't for the slightly bigger seat I wouldnt have noticed any difference from economy, but with it being a free upgrade from the credit card voucher at least we didnt pay any more for it.

Enjoyed your outward and return trip reports - thanks for posting.

It's so long since I was in the bubble in PE …. I think it was an Antigua trip in 2007 when it was still all PE up there … but I'm sure veterans of the board will correct me if I'm wrong on when it all changed. I did much prefer the bubble for the relative calm and exclusivity to being downstairs in PE, which I've done a couple of times on BGI trips, even though the seats are presumably the same.

Can I ask what you thought overall of staying at the Cosmo as although I'm pretty sure we've eaten a great meal in the Steak Bar before heading into Marquee (and maybe there was a Sushi Bar too?) but we haven't tried many of the eateries there and never stayed in any of the rooms there either so I would value your opinion.

I really liked the Cosmo, we had a fountain view terrace room and i could have spent the whole time sitting out there reading with a glass of wine! We were in the Chelsea tower, but in hindsight I think I would have preferred the Boulevard tower as you can get to the strip more quickly.

Both pools were good and we never had much trouble getting a sunbed. On our last full day we had one of the daybeds for $150 spend on food & drinks which is quite easy to do if you are there most of the day. Apparently this is over $1500 on weekends.

We only ate in Henry's one morning for breakfast which was very nice although the service was a bit poor (I genuinely think our order got lost somewhere as it took an age compared to those sitting around us. I noticed they were getting ready to open what looked to be a high end food court there which looked interesting.

The casino was nice and clean, and i thought drinks service was pretty good considering neither of us were high rollers and just stuck to low stakes gambling. They state 11am check out but they were happy to extend it to midday just by asking.

I would definitely stay there again but only if we could get a decent rate, otherwise its back to the 3* hotels we usually stay at.

Thanks a lot for the info - I'll give it a go for a couple of mid-week nights on my next trip as usually some very nice prices at the more expensive hotels mid-week (I tend to either stay at the Stratosphere, Rio or one of the downtown hotels such as Main Street or D for those expensive weekend nights …. though some deals at SLS this time that might tempt me to try out their refurbished rooms as it's also on the monorail for cheap getting about). Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
