Start of a 2 week holiday at Sandals Grande St Lucia. Now we live in the North East, we took a lunchtime train from Newcastle to Kings Cross, crossed the road to St Pancras and took the Thameslink from there to Gatwick, and then headed over to the Premier Inn at the North terminal to overnight there, a nice and relaxed journey. This was the calm before the Coronavirus storm hit the country!

Dropped the bags off, directed to a UC desk as there was a small queue at PE, and quickly through security. Relaxed and then headed to the gate, where we boarded quite quickly. UC & PE we just about full, and economy was about half full.

Doors closed on time, and then a delay was announced due to some French ATC restrictions that were affecting other fights on the single runway.. We pushed back about 30 minutes late, trundled to the runway, which we then trundled down and turned off. The previous plane had reported a possible bird strike, so a runway check was needed. We looped around and took off an hour late. Made up a few minutes on the flight. Flight was "standard" PE food and service on the A330-200. Seat was OK but not much padding on the seat base.

And off to a relaxing break.... see the return journey.
