Y'know, it is at times like this that I really miss GJ [:#]

EVERTON, EVERTON, EVERTON

And yes, I do miss him [:)]

Oops, wrong forum. Perhaps a kind Mod would care to move this to the Premier League Forum which was, after all, GJ's spiritual home [y]

GJ decided he no longer wanted to be a member on the site.

The long and the short is, GJ had been looking for a way to leave the site, creat as much of a storm as he could in doing so, I gave him the opening, he took it.

From my reading of it, I don't believe thats entirely correct.

I really don't care what you believe, I am one of those people who keeps every message that is sent, now while it would be bad sport to post them all on here, rest assured that what I stated is fact.

Sometimes some people decide the time is to move on and they do. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't.

Some like to create a bit of drama by stomping their feet and throwing their toys everywhere.

Everyone gets over it, usually quite quickly when it's all tidied up the rubber ducks are put away.

You do have an excellent way of pissing people off thats for sure Scrooge.Whether is directly on the forum or by your PM's I am sure GJ is not the only one to feel your uncompromising attitude, (as shown in these postings) I know I have!
Perhaps the problem was not GJ but you.[:w]

I havent posted on here for a 6-7 weeks i thought i would take a wide birth for a while as some attitudes on here were becoming over bearing, and certainly not worth logging in for. Decided to log back in yesterday as i really do like & miss this site and enjoy the relatively small band of members which give it its character, I for for one certainly wont be missing GJ and good riddance as his attitude stunk[V][V].

My only disapointment is that i missed the finale and know nothing about what was said (damn it)

V flyer to me im sure will return to its friendly atmosphere exactly how i found it to be when i joined 18 months ago.

cheers

That was my initial thoughts, though it took football discussion for me to notice this.

I got used to this eventually, and although he did seem popular, I thought he was acting as though he was down the pub with his mates and, at times, generally winding people up. What really got to me was how he seemed to have this aura around him that he was above the rules.

I wasn't posting at the time he toppled his pram and ran off leaving the toys strewn everywhere, which was a shame, but then again I don't think I would've been missing much. I didn't join the forum just to read GJ's posts which may have constituted as spam had it been another forum, and if I wanted to read half of what GJ had posted I would've just gone to the pub with my mates.

V-Flyer is no worse off without him, and credit where it's due to Pete for creating this site in the first place! But you've got to feel sorry for Pete and the moderators when someone of GJ's irk comes along and tough choices have to be made over his behaviour just because someone decided they didn't like what he said, regardless of popularity.

All that said, I have a feeling he'll return someday and it'll be business as usual as far as he's concerned...eventually!

Hi Alex[y]

May be I missed some things ( not being in to footie ) I thought the person we are discussing here made some very tongue in cheek posts
that were meant in jest most of the time with the odd one coming close to the mark, never took them seriously. Have found myself dismayed much more by a n other to be honest.

Not being in the loop so to speak about what actually happened it wouldn't be right for me to disparage GJ.

Perhaps it would be fairer if he had a right of reply [:?]

I was sorry to see GJ go..

However we should not forget that it was his decision!
And I'm quite sure that he is still around ... and can reply if he so wishes.

I also have to say that I never saw anything objectionable in GJ - I think a couple of my posts came in for a bit of a ribbing from him but I never took it as anything other than a bit of tomfoolery (now there's a word I haven't used in a while).

However I do trust the Moderators opinions and Scrooge especially has always proved himself to be fair so I guess I just didn't hang around the right topics and missed the fireworks.

Best of Britsh GJ - I will miss you somewhat.

My view also, the place is a little less bright without his humour.

Just to be clear, GJ decided to leave of his own accord. At the point he requested his account removed, I did ask him to reconsider, but he decided it was better for him to move on and he parted on friendly terms.

He has not been barred from V-Flyer, and he knows that he is welcome to return should he wish to. As GJ was his second persona on here, I wouldn't be surprised if he won't eventually be tempted back, although I know GJ has found a new outlet for his banter on Facebook amongst many of his V-Flyer friends. And perhaps the freedom of Facebook, and fewer constraints to stay 'on topic' will suit him better.

Thank you for setting the record straight Pete.

Having been on the receiving end of his banter I can sympathise with those here who are glad he has departed. However, having weathered the storm, so to speak, I have found him a very pleasant albeit sometimes irritating, (like an itch you constantly want to scratch)individual and I do miss him. Mainly his attacks are meant to be provocative and not malicious, sometimes they are not received in the same context as they are meant.

That's the problem with the written word - it is very hard to emphasise it in the same way as the spoken word, and even though it is meant as a joke it could be constituted as offensive by those on the receiving end.

And Pete, thanks for the clarification on the issue.
