Halloween 2010 - Orlando & NY

PostPosted: 30 Nov 2008, 11:52

This is a truly earlybird thread! A few of us are thinking of going back to Orlando in 2010 to revisit the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios.

It turns out that Halloween falls on a Sunday in 2010, which is when New York have their fantastic annual Halloween Parade which is amazing fun!

So a few of us were talking over the weekend about combining both in one trip! Clearly details are yet to be finalised and exact dates, but if like us you like to plan trips in advance to plan mileage usage / holiday spend etc we thought we'd share our plans.

Basic plan would be Friday 29th October 2010 in Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights, and then on the 30th fly / transfer up to NYC. Then do the Halloween Parade on the Sunday evening.

We will be at both events, if your interested come to either, neither or both. :o)

That is something that sounds right up our street. We have been talking about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal in 2010 anyways, and we LOVE New York, so works perfectly. I am sure we will have a few discussions over the next few months but sounds a good idea to me!

[y] Excellent idea. Plenty of time to earn the miles to snag a G.

Both events are great fun. [y]
They don't allow fancy dress for Halloween Horror Nights, but for the parade in NY it's encouraged (you'll look a bit silly without).

Some photos of the last NY parade I was in are here.

Cheers!
Dean

I'd be tempted by this... can I also suggest the Halloween Horror Night VIP tour thing, well worth the money if there is a decent group of us, it skips all the lines.

This year we bought Express Pass tickets along side the regular HHN tickets and never had to queue for more than about 10 minutes to get in any house. [y] Needless to say these need to be booked up early as they're all sold out before the day, especially as we would be going on Halloween weekend.

Much more frustrating without these, like we did a few years back and only got in three houses with queues of about an hour.

Visiting Universal Orlando in 2010 will also mean that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be open at Islands of Adventure too. No-ones sure what the new big ride will be, but let's face it, it's going to be good given the current line-up at Studios + IoA. It's one hell of a big building they are putting up for the ride too.

Enjoy!

We did exactly this trip this year and I highly recommend it.
If you've not been there before I would also recommend staying at the Hard Rock Hotel which of course provide the benefits of bypassing all the lines in the parks.

With regard to the Harry Potter ride whatever it is,it looks as though the major attraction is going to be inside. Don't forget of course that there will also be a new coaster at US which looks as though it will travel outside the park and go around part of City Walk.

I know most of you are old hands at this game but if you have any questions about our trip please feel free to ask.

How does this work? Is the whole thing booked as a package or is it done independently by each person?

The idea is everyone books there own stuff. You can come to whichever bits interest you - we encourage people to drop in and out of the events.

I carefully plan any trips to avoid school holidays so it was the first thing I thought of!

Mmm, maybe it might have to be NYC first, and then down to MCO as HHN are on post Halloween if I recall. That clashes with my 30th birthday then.... oh my...
