How Early Do You Book?

Just a thought how early does everyone book?

We booked two holidays in one in NOV 05 for AUG 06 to Barbados[8D] and in JAN for DEC this year in St Lucia[8D] we always try book 10 to 12 months ahead so we can get the PE seats and UC on the way home.

We are already looking at next Easter to Orlando once again. Loads of Flying Club Miles

We normally book with at least 11 months notice, not just to organise our leave but each year goes so much better when you know you always have at least three holidays in the pipeline

It kind of depends,if VS or anyoneelse for that matter offers something of a bargin then i'll book even if its way off and then plan around it.

After we returned from our last cruise we found another cruise on a better ship,visiting more islands for the same cost,so even though it was 13 months off it made sence to use to book it.

Not usually more than 6 months in advance, but it's a good question, as I really am not sure if there IS a best time. I've bee keeping my eye on flights to Vegas mid September, did a spreadsheet to make a comparison and now have dates to fly in my mind. That was 2 weeks ago. I did the same check yesterday and flights have gone up for my dates. However, I did much the same thing last year and at one point,prices dropped by a couple of hundred quid. Hope I haven't missed the boat this time!

Another thought - when I checked again, not only were prices higher, but MPM was even more expensive! Go figure....

It depends - if it's my wedding anniversary annual break in September, I tend to book about Dec/Jan to get early booking discounts and sometimes Xmas/PostXmas sales.

With regard to any other trips - a sunbathing cheapie, I tend to book about 3-4 weeks in advance.

For city breaks, I wait for the airline offers and book then.

I think it's more difficult for people with children as they need to book early to get the best discounts as obviously it's the busiest time for flights etc.

If anyone has any secrets about the best booking times, it's always nice to hear them.

If you're looking for a late deal. I recently asked VH about their Megadeals which seem reasonable, but I was also told about certain hotels that they have on special for certain days only (Cha, might be worth asking about when you phone up. If you are booking online, I found that they have late night specials too.

Agree with you on that one big time!!! Usually as soon as our return date is bookable I am on the case. The soon to be Mrs Mc woke me up [|)]one sunday morning to say that we could book our honeymoon flights, it took me a few seconds for that remark to register [?] and within 2 minutes I was online getting them done, needless to say I was after seats in Z - and got them [8D], likewise when we wanted to book for New Year in NY.

Usually book a special holiday 12 months in advance - tend to book the Caribbean around September when I get back from the special one!!!! Gets rid of that wanderlust!!!!
