Will we be re-introducing the lost route?

Nice thought. [y]

I think it was the light loads that caused it to be cancelled in the first place though.

Time will tell.

Hmm... I agree Nick.

VS were very shrewd post 9/11 and cut everything that was borderline. That's reflected in their strength now.

I'm sure I read somewhere that VS have kept their licence for YYZ up-to-date anyway [:?]

Loads where low for YYZ as the route had only been operating several weeks before it was pulled. Easier to pull a new route than a well established one.

If it does ever re-start I'd prefer to go from LHR though instead of LGW like last time.

I'd love YYZ to come back, I also heard that VS had the paperwork sitting waiting to re-start at reasonably short notice.

YVR would be nice, so would a few other destinations I suppose!! :D

Anything to save me giving Air Canada ANY more money this summer sounds good to me [y]

Great news for passengers!

Would rather see YVR (Vancouver) before YYZ though (would love to go skiing in whistler next season!)

Id vote for it being an A343 route at first if they launch it... whats your guesses?

I think that any new route is difficult and post 9/11, waiting for a new route to pick was not an option.
Now, however, I think that VCS would be well placed to fly to YYZ given the competition. I'm sure that most people would rather fly VS than AC and, given the number of planes AC always has at T3, I reckon that with some time, virgin could certainly take some of that capacity.[:?]

Cheers,

I have been told that we are going to do ORD again soon and that we will do YYZ seasonal. Using the CPT A/C

Both these flights have been rumoured many a time- a quick search of both a.net and here shows that!

The key will be slots at LHR- I cant see the flights going from LGW at all. The 343 will be used without a doubt at first.

I guess they could also use the CPT slots at LHR as well. I think LGW would be a non-starter for the YYZ route (nothing against LGW - but in order to compete with Air Canada, LHR would be the only real option)

I wouldn't think either of these routes will be starting this year.

Fantastic News about Chicago - have some really good friends there and it was always a pain trying to fly with VS via another route!!

I do so hope this route gets back up and running!!!

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhhhh [n]

I dont think you have made a ricket - YYZ is Toronto - YVR is Vancouver!!!! So you have planned the best "Virgin" route!!!

Wouldn't it be smart to launch them before a good travel time, like Christmas, so as to get as many passengers as possible during the first few weeks of service?

Christmas isn't actually *that* great of a travel time for Airlines though, Nick.

Apart from the few key dates around Christmas Day and New Year's - it's a flat period (hence all of the pre & post Christmas fare sales). Unless there are heavily discounted fares, planes can be like ghost ships over the Christmas holidays as many people stay at home, and business travel (the more profitable type) dies down.

I guess Toronto/Vancouver could make a bit during Jan/Feb (YVR more so than YYZ, for certain). However, it's not like the peak summer months (which I guess they're too far away from launching in time for) or the other school holiday periods.
