On a recent trip to Sydney I was only awarded 3 tier points for economy. When I queried this they said I was on a discounted fare. I can't see anything on the Virgin site on reduced Tier points for any fares. The trip was a multi-hop multi-airline trip booked through Amex Travel at work and I have no idea what class I was booked. The point I lost is irrelevant as I have an UC trip to Sydney booked and another in the pipeline so will get Silver (or Gold if I do both). I just don't like mysteries, can anyone solve this one?
Thanks
Chris

According to the tier point guide on the VS Website.. You should earn 4 tier points for an economy trip to /from London / Sydney.

The tier point reduction for N class fares only applies to the US and Caribbean.

You say it was a 'multi-hop, multi-airline trip', did you fly on VS metal from LHR-HKG-SYD?

Welcome to V-Flyer, by the way. :D[}:)]

Yes I did the VS200 LHR-HKG-SYD on the wayout but was only credited 3 point but full miles. I finished with a code share VS7322 SIN-LHR and was given the correct 2 points for that leg. I have emailed them again to ask where it says on the Virgin website about the reduced points but I dare say it will take a while to get a reply. I'm waiting over a month for another question I asked them.

Thanks for the welcome a few extra business trips has suddenly made points and miles for airlines and hotels and interesting subject. :D

As Nick says, it is 2 per sector for SYD route. Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor as you were given a duff answer.

Thanks,
Richard

I left LHR on the 21st February, didn't do a stop over at HKG so it wasn't any confusion on that side.

Well that is what I thought. The info that others provided is for flight occuring after Match 1. After March 1 you would get 4 TPs in Economy LHR-(HKG)-SYD if you stopped in HKG or not. Before March 1 you only got 3 TPs if you did not stopover in HKG. Your TPs are correct.

Glad to hear to got your 2 TPs on the SQ codeshare

Before March, the tier points to SYD worked differently, and were discounted if you flew non-stop to/from SYD.

I flew to SYD (in upper) in feb and got 8 TP's, on the way back (in March) I got 10 TP's, because of the new structure.

I think it is right that 3 TP's got awarded to you in Feb, and that you would earn 4 TP's flying now on the new earning levels (if that makes sense!!)

Richard/Benjamin Thanks for clarifying the March 1st change I thought I checked before I went and it said 4 points maybe it was pre-announced.

I've got UC to SYD in July booked and hopefully another one Aug/Sept so as long as I get my 10 TPs each way on those, Silver and Gold will be on the way.
