I booked some flights back in November and received e-tickets. However, I made an amendment to the booking on Monday but have not received an updated e-ticket. I telephoned the FC and they have told me that an amended e-ticket is not issued until about 2 weeks before departure. Is this correct?

I amended an e-ticket booking on Mat 1st (for a November departure) and was told that I would get a new e-ticket "probably within a month or so as the department that issue them have a bit of a backlog and are processing the e-ticket reissues in travel date order".

Have still not had it, but am not overly bothered, as I can see my booking is what I changed it too on the FC website.

I hope your e-ticket comes through! I have not had so much look when making changes to bookings. When I have changed milages UC bookings I have yet to have the reissued ticket, always have to go to the desk at LHR! With paid for tickets a little more sucess, but only about 50%!
They always say there is a backlog and you should get it no later than 2 weeks before! I have phoned and been told one has been sent and it myseriously never turns up in my inbox! Guess maybe its just me, but I get the feeling when speaking to them it is a common problem they have no way of solving at the moment so they give the standard line or a couple of weeks!

Failing that just get a print out at the airport on the day of departure.

This shouldn't be too much of a cause for concern. Retain your existing e-ticket when making changes, if the new ticket does not arrive before you depart for the airport, take your original ticket, plus details of the changes with you. At the airport go to the VAA Ticketing Desk, they will issued the correct ticket for you on the spot.

Thanks for the replies - its just that I'm a bit of a worrier and will be panicking that when I get to the airport that they won't let me fly because I don't have the right paperwork.

An e ticket is just a reservation in the system. So long as it's been changed in that you wont have any problem. And even if a date is wrong - e ticket or paper ticket - it can be amended by the ticket desk

For anyone else who is worried that they have not received their e-tickets. 2 months after amending my booking, I received one amended e-ticket on Monday and the other just now - I fly on Saturday.

When travelling on eTickets they never seem to look at the print outs I present, just cross referencing my name from the passport...

^ I wouldn't be so sure the agent hasn't looked at your e ticket.

A pax once asked me at the end of check in what was the point of bringing the bit of paper when i did even look at it. I then promptly recalled all the info off it, including where, when and how he bought his ticket and the phone number of "Lewis from Avis" he'd scribbled on it.
