See here for an interview SRB gave to CNN supposedly listing his five favourite things that make life easier on the road, when he is travelling.

A cynic may suggest that, apart from number one and five, it is really just a very thinly disguised plug for the new LHR Clubhouse. [8D][}:)][:I]

Maybe the extended LHR clubhouse will shortly be opening a shop that specialises in Breitling watches and notepads.

Well, you wouldn't expect any else other than self-promotion, good for him. Mind you, a mars bar for the first person to actually see Richard in the jacuzzi!

I wonder if I could get an agreement like that with Breitling - although it wouldn't be so much a replacement as simply giving me a new watch...[}:)];)

The notebook is a great idea. Almost every remotely successful businessman I know either has a photographic memory, or carries a pocket notepad.

BTW, didn't they take the notepad out of the Y/W amenity kit?

I can't help but point out that watches, because of their size transmit distress on the old 121mhz frequency which in most parts of the world is now defunct. More interestingly, it never had coverage in the south west pacific. I suspect that SRB's rescue was more to do with the 416mhz EPIRB that would have automatically activated, and that his comments about his watch have more to do with a certain sponsorship deal he has made.

So I should stick with your Timex watches (Cartier in egg's case of course!)

I'm afraid he really must try harder than this.

Given his status in life and that fact that a large number of people look up to him I think the way he has manipulated the answer into a mixture thinly disguised plugs for his airline is pretty cheap. The BS about the watch is on the other hand rather contemptable IMHO. But hey, maybe he believes it did save his life!
