Freddie's or First Innings Scores

Pretty much decided that I'm going to have my credit card ready at 9am tomorrow morning to try and grab a 'Freddie' fare to SYD.

I'm just hoping they will allow me to have a 2 night stop-over in HKG in 1 direction and a 1 night stop-over in HKG the other direction, as I would like to pop over to SIN to play Blockbusters again......if you get my meaning

UA do return flights from HKG>SIN for as little as £150 return and their departure time fits in perfectly with the VS arrival into HKG to get me to SIN on the cheap. Well OK the times are close but workable (VS200 lands at HKG ~18:00 and the UA flight departs HKG at 19:55). SQ want £550 for the same route, also there schedule would not work with the arrival time of the VS200 either [:(]

T&C's for the Freddie promo only states that a max of 2 stop-overs are allowed (it did say 3 yesterday) - no mention of a max stop-over duration, so here's hoping. I could always skip the stop-over going the other direction [:0] if the worst comes to the worst.

Anyone any thoughts on this.....

LOL yeah i got nearly 100 of them on my last visit.

I'm not sure if I'm tempted enough, even though it's still an excellent fare. Mid-April to June is not my preferred time to go down under. I was checking out the fares to see how much the taxes came to and with a stop-over in HKG in each direction it's an astounding £174. I'd have been more tempted if the travel period was more flexible, like the BA offer. I think I'll have to pass on this one, any other time and I would have booked it without two shakes of a duck's tail.

Of course the £339 includes £131 tax so the additional tax would push the fare up to £383 which is not too bad [}:)]

Comes a year too early for us - we'll be in Saigon all of April otherwise would be tempted.

so has anyone got one of these yet?

I managed to get 2 tickets departing on 16th April - the lady at VA said I was the first person to call and book this morning but my work colleague has since also booked 2 tickets and was told the same thing!!

Between us we know 20+ people who have now booked tickets through this offer - I suspect VA have either lost count or are not restricting it to 402 tickets...although that does not seem economically viable.

The team that was handling this offer was ringfenced away from main res, so that they could keep track of the sales as there was only 402 available. Your friend may have been the first person through to that particular agent.

Very true. I'm just pleased that a) I managed to get some tickets and b) so did some of my friends.

Managed to grab a Freddie fare here too for June 1st 2006

With 1 over-night stop-over in HGK both ways it came out at £388. It would have been £320 with no stop-overs.

I finally got though at 10:15 yesterday and the agent said there were quite a few left then. I wasn't fussed about my dates of travel so I let the agent tell me when flights were available.

Wasn't able to have a 2 night stop over in HKG as I originally wanted (could only book 1 night in each direction), so me thinks a Y flight from SYD to KUL or SIN whilst I'm there is my next best option. Not too bad as Austrian Airlines want ~£500 return SYD>KUL or there's Gulf Air SYD>SIN for ~£590 return. KUL is better as Blockbusters are considerably cheaper from KUL that time of year

Even got my e-ticket yesterday as well (basic fare was £214 the rest is tax [}:)]).

I've just returned from OZ on this fare and was impressed with the service (first time with Virgin).
