Interesting piece here about changes to existing orders and possible revisions to the A346.

Story here.

Interesting... "Virgin did not expect to make any firm decisions on its fleet orders during the world's biggest air show at Farnborough"

If VS were to get A330's would Manchester see any? im sure they could fill them from MAN as the market is obviously smaller than London but the smaller capacity of the A330 would be ideal!

I don't think so,as I said above I would think they would go to LHR freeing up the LHR 744's for MAN/LGW as those airports have a larger amount of B&S routes, while at LHR you are looking for frequency.

Well that was an interesting release.I would love to be a fly on the wall.

Ok lawyer time.

When VS signed the contract for the 380 im guessing they had a get out clause, something along the lines of if the plane's are not delivered by such and such a time we can walk away from the deal, now do you think VS will hold them to that or just hit them with lot's of penalties for late delivery?

If that's true, I know I'll be angry at a couple individuals on this forum for leading us to believe so. [:(!]

It's not over until the fat lady sings!!!!

Quite a turn up VS admitting to the A346 not being up to the job though, i bet they wish they'd gone Boeing!!! The Qatar B777 order was correct though.

If it is going to be A330, wouldn't it need ETOPS approval for the east coast US flights (I know it could go a non-ETOPS flight path but that defets the object) ?

Yes it would and the A330 is already ETOPS with a number of airlines,it wouldn't be a problem.

Apparently the fat lady won't be singing until all the "4 engines 4 long haul" decals are removed, a job that should have been completed by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no sign of that "definite" A330 order. You said definitely Farnborough. You knew that for sure. What's the story Denzil, "Galley FM stikes again" perhaps? ;)
