Personally I'd get a taxi (agree your fare with the driver before you get in).
We first went to Barbados in 2001, travelled in PE. Got off the plane quickly, through immigration quickly and went to wait for our free transport. We must've waited about an hour for the last person to get to our minibus. We had no air con and had to wait in the sun.
We went back to Barbados this year (with BMI) and got a taxi. As we left to get our taxi (with no queue :) ) we looked left and saw hundreds of people lining up waiting to find out which bus they were on etc, it looked a nightmare.
Taxis are pretty cheap, it cost us 25 BD$ + tip but that was down to the south coast, I really wouldn't expect it to be that much more getting to the west, even if it is, it's gotta be worth it!

I'd second the taxi and if the hotel does the "check in chill out" I'd get a taxi back to the airport too and forget about the included transfer

Aside from the issue of the wait for the transfer, the transport in Barbados is usually a minivan style carrying about 8. So starting with a party of 4, you're unlikely to get more than one extra hotel stop and reasonably likely to find that someone else is travelling to your hotel and so there won't be any extra stops.

When we went to Barbados a couple of years back the VH people recommended the taxi service..I'd asked because we were on a Reward flight using a VH hotel. I prebooked ours over the internet so had chap with board with our name on it waiting...lost the emails unfortunately, but I think it was Boyce's (shades of Peckham). Cost a little more than a straight taxi but I knew that upfront and didn't want the hassle of sorting fares etc in the heat and after a flight.

Even if you do prebook don't assume, however, that the taxi will be there immediately. Rather, assume a good natured chaos and confusion to be the norm. Make sure you have drinks available when you get off the aeroplane, wear loose clothing and a hat, find a shady spot and chill.

Yep, you've got the options, so no real need to seek out a prebooked taxi option (as you effectively have that already with the transfer). Why don't I think before I suggest these things..[:I]

Spookily enough we're off to your Christmas destination on the same day as you're off to Barbados. I would wave but I guess you'll be in Manchester and I'll be in Gatwick.

TAXI.

We were on an overloaded bus where my 2 year old had to sit on her mothers lap instead of in a seat with a lap belt on.

hi john

[y]first thanks for the comments i am talking to (via email) to Johsons Tours they quote me as below not bad, but with my luck we get there and they probably give us a taxi on our own anyway and if i don't book it we will be squashed in like you guys!!![n]

"Thank you for considering Johnson's Tours as your taxi company in Barbados. The charge of car from the airport to Cobblers Cove is US $60.00 one way and US $80.00 round trip for an air-conditioned Mercedes car. "

and secondly

i pressed your link and i was so pleased that i did as the Manchester 747 picture you did is my favorite i have three pcs/laptops and that picture is on all of them but i couldn't remember where i uploaded it from.

[^]well done its a super picture [oo](i feel a new topic coming up)

regards
