Hi to you all,

Myself and the wife are looking to book reward seats to OZ/NZ next year and as we have a few points to spend thought that Singapore Airlines first class would be a nice way to travel.

I remember reading(cannot find it now) that SQ would only allow one F reward seat on each flight. Can anyone give me any information if this is still the case, or not. I spoke to someone at Flying Club who was VERY vague, but seemed to think it was possible. However I really did not trust her response, and before I do an Amex mileage dump I want to make sure. With the wealth of knowledge on this site I am hoping that a definitive answer can be got.

I know I still have the VS/Air New Zealand options in J, but kind of fancy F on SQ.

Many thanks for your help.

Mark.

Always thought of doing it but for 220k miles each they always seem to disapear before we got to the required number.I would think if SQ are anything like BA then you will have to be booking 330 days out.Good luck.

I too am looking at returning back from SIN in F next year.
I know I'll never be able to justify the cash fare so guess this will be the only way. The best thing for me, and I'm guessing for anyone else who wants to do this, work out what day you want to fly this (or what is available) and work round that.

When I've managed it, or not, I'll let you know..

I managed to make a booking in SQ First for January a couple of months back, but had to cancel it as plans had changed [:#] Was only for 1 ticket, mind.

Regardless, I was surprised at the efficiency of the checking / booking process - Flying Club do the request to SQ on computer whilst you're on the line and let you know straight away. In my case I then reserved the booking for 24 hours whilst I sorted out other options.

Interesting one this, since I'm pondering the same route with the other half sometime next year, albeit it with BMI miles n' cash.

After checking the chat around this topic on Flyertalk, the general consensus seems to be that there is a better chance of obtaining F inventory if you can fly out of MAN or CDG. I don't know how true this is, but it might be worth considering if you don't mind the extra travel time and it yields the seats you need... :)

Might also be worth enrolling with ANA, which will give you access to their rewards booking engine on their website. You can then check ability for all Star Alliance partners and hence get an idea if there are any suitable reward seats in F for when you want to fly.

Ahh Darryl you beat me to it! I did the same but felt bad as they sent me a formal packet and card with no activity on the account. That said, the site is really helpful. [y]

I have 4 SQ First sectors booked LHR-SIN-AKL return later in the year. It was booked 330 days out and if you enroll in KrisFlyer on the SQ site you can see whether award inventory is available. You can also do a search for the hidden O fare bucket on ExpertFlyer too.

Opinion is divided about whether there is only one available F award seat, but perceived wisdom is that it is certainly very difficult to get more than one, if not impossible. SQ does use different codes internally for KrisFlyer and *Alliance/VS awards, but I don't think this necessarily translates into more than one seat.

All that said, if you are booking 330 days out then you or your loved one can pay a deep discounted rate for a second ticket. E.g. I paid £4.4K for the AKL F return to match The Kitten's reward seat. Which is lots of money, but a lot less than the £9K full fare.

Had a look on KrisFlyer trying a few different combinations to Sydney.

It wouldn't offer First class from Manchester. I suspect because it's only two days a week via Frankfurt. (Business class only the other days direct to SIN)

I could only obtain a routing for 1 passenger, not two. It offered me waitlisting only for two seats, but there was plenty of availablity for one.

It was possible to book two business class seats on that route though. I realise not quite what you wanted, but I thought I'd let you know what was available.

I hope that helps.

Managed to book the SQ First reward with miles.
(excuse me for a second..[^][^][^][y][:0]:D[:p][^])

It was a bit of an oddessy though, initally rang VS and with their searching they could find nothing in First or Business for the whole of Feb or March next year. Still they recommended I ring SQ aswell just to check as they can search whole months at a time and might pick something up.

Lo and behold rang SQ and they did have availability on the days I wanted to fly.

Rang back VS and then they found them all of sudden, booked, had to wait 48 hours to confirm and now have the flight.

So my advice would be check with VS first, as it is them you have to book the miles through, but do give SQ a ring is nothing comes up the first time. You may get lucky. Still best to do it early as possible though..

Many thanks to you all for your advice, I will join the ANA programme and try to get availability before I call VS.

Worst case scenario is that I go F and Wifey has to 'slum it' in Raffles Class.......... Now theres an idea!!!

Again, thanks for the help.
