Sorry I forgot to add. Once your past security at the airport you cant take any of 'your own' drinks. However BAA gets DHL/Excel to scan all produce through to the airport under their supervision so all items are safe and nothing 'harmful' or 'explosive' could get landside!
I would be interested to know how, as I am unaware of a way to screen sealed bottles of liquid for explosive properties. I would imagine that most spirits are fairly explosive anyway.
You must have seen the way they swab check your bags for explosive which seems to heavily rely on exposure of material to an explosive compound.
Does anyone think this is slightly Die Hard 3 'esque' with explosive liquids!? I thought you needed some density to explosives.
