Upgrades

I would like some advice! I am flying to JNB in Nov out I have a G ticket and return a S in PE - no more G available on the return leg.

What I would like to know is how long before my return can I check/ask for an upgrade (they have said at the call centre that you can check every month in the hope that a G seat comes available, but would Virgin allow additional upgrades before the departure date?) - if at all? What is the best way to go about it.

About a week before your S flight, if capacity allows, the Revenue department at VS may release further reward seats. This is you best hope for getting one. There is a possibility one may come up before if someone who is on a reward cancels, but it is unlikely. I would not bother too much about checking until T-7

I wouldn't give up hope until you get to the airport. When we flew to Del in March there was no availability when I rang FC (I was checking on a daily basis !), but we were lucky and 2xG seats popped up on the day when we went to the ticket desk at LHR.
Its just a shame it was one of the few non UCS aircraft [:(!]

I am the eternal optimist and I am sure that it will work out, it would just be nice to get it sorted before the departure date though!

I got upgraded from PE to UCS from SFO in April - with a non upgradable fare! They still took 20k in miles, but that was fantastic! The lady at check in thought I was a famous S African golf player!!!! [8D]
