How long for trip miles to be credited ?

I flew out on Sunday 5th Nov to Washington, and so far the mileage has not been credited to my account.

Normally the mileage gets credited a day or so after travelling, the fastest was actually within a few hours of landing at SFO.

The boarding pass did have the correct FC account.

Anyone have any idea when they will hit the account ?

Normally they say allow up to 28 days for it to be credited to your account but on some of my previous trips they have been credited sooner.

If in doubt call your silver card membership number and they should be able to assist you.

Mileage from a normal revenue fare should appear within about 48 hours, usually.

However, if you upgraded using a mileage upgrade award, the retarded Flying Club system can't tell the difference between an upgrade award from a paid ticket and a non-revenue award (Come on VS! How long have we been on at you about this? BA can. KLM can. United can. What exactly do your IT/computing department do all day?).

Anyway, this means that the database assumes you were on a non-rev award until you phone up Flying Club and tell them otherwise, at which point they credit the miles.

(Note that this doesn't apply to operational upgrades - i.e. a free upgrade because the class of travel you were ticketed in is overbooked.)

Mine was a full fare PE ticket, so there should have been no issues there. I need it credited this week, as the next flight I have in 2 weeks time will qualify me for Gold.

Have you try using the 'missing miles' function on the virgin website?

If you do this, the miles / TPs appear in your account instantly. I did it on Tuesday for my flight from JFK on Sunday.

Ahh, good point. I'll try that now. In the past I thought this manually triggered someone in customer services and I did n't want a 3 week wait from an answer from somewhere in India.

Normally the outboard flight will be credited to your account within 48 hours, but coming back is a different story. It seems take much longer to credit the miles is you come back from Dubai or Shanghai. I guess they may use different system there.

Are the miles automatic or do you show your card at check in? I have booked via VH.

Your Flying Club number is usually in the system when you check in. It is worth showing your card at check in just to make sure.
It is also important to keep hold of the stub from your boarding card in case of problems / disputes. These are very rare on Virgin now, but I always err on the side of caution.

In the very rare event that there is a Mileage discrepancy with Virgin, I always call the flying club, and they sort it out. It appears that other airlines, and in particular when you travel with their partners, the miles go missing quite often.

Continental were dreadful in getting miles added accurately in my experience.
And I gave up on the BA Travelex scheme, because for me, 90% of the time I had to ring up and claim my miles, despite handing over the BA card every time I bought currency. I came to believe it was SOP to keep down costs.

I've actually found, with VS flights from the US back to the UK, my miles credit is always very very fast. I'm talking landing at LHR in the morning and the miles been in my account by 5pm the same day!! This has happened nearly every time as well [oo]

Outbound flights to the US usually take a little longer but no more than 48 hours.

VS miles earning on BMI domestic flights always seem to take the longest for me - all 150 miles for each flight leg or what ever it is you now earn on BD Tiny fares, it's hardly worth the effort any more!

My US to UK miles often take 3 days, I now just do it myself via the missing miles option.
