Due to fly next November/December (using miles hopefully) to New York (3 nights), Florida (5) and Vegas (4). Obviously we depart from LHR where we need to end up flying back!

Since Vegas flights land in LGW, we need an internal flight to either LAX or SFO. Both nearly equidistant, what airport would you recommend flying from, taking into account I guess the lounge available.

Thanks.

Well there is not a true proper CH in LAX. VS uses the Air New Zealand Lounge which is new and 7,500 square feet.

The SFO CH is a two-time V-Flyer Award winner.

Errr .. SFO!

Seriously, SFO is a fab airport, nice staff, fantastic Clubhouse, there really is nothing going for LAX in comparison! Take heed from your fellow V-Flyers - SFO it has to be!!

Thanks,
Sarah

I have to agree with honey lamb, never mind the others, go for SFO ;)

Until LAX gets a proper Clubhouse, SFO will win everytime!

Haven't tried SFO[:I] but LAX quite a few times, I'd also say SFO. LAX is a bit of a dump TBH for VS. Having said that, I've only ever used the AC lounge - last time we were there, they were due to switch to ANZ the next day[n]

VS.

Further to your ambiguous replies, I am delighted to confirm I have used 120000 miles for upgrade round trip to JFK, onto MCO then LAS with an internal to SFO to savour the delights of the Club Lounge.

I made the booking last Thursday and was advised there would be a £50 amendment fee for any changes. Y'day after checking my itinery I realised I had made a mistake by giving myself only 3 days in Vegas rather than 4. Sheepishly I rung up to ask if I could change admitting my foolish error and she kindly waived the fee. Excellent service as ever from VA.

I know its 11 months away, but cannot wait!!

Just been though LAX... go to SFO....

LAX is the Air New Zealand lounge not a ptach on VS lounges anywhere else in the worldI have been too ( Hong Kong, San Fran and London )

Food selection was limited to a small salad , cheese, fruit and biscuits... on the up side the kiddies area had "finding nemo" on dvd... kept our little one amused ...

I have been to both in the last month, and yes, SFO is better, but LAX is definitely hugely improved since I last went in there (admittedly I've been avoiding it for several years) - it's at least twice the size it used to be, and had it not been New Year's day I'd have been giving the rather good Kiwi vino selection something more to write home about.

The LAX cold buffet has about the same selection as the LHR CH buffet with cheese and meats, plus cut fresh fruit, but it's help yourself rather than being served by someone wearing disposable plastic gloves as it is in the LHR CH.

[Side point - honestly, at the LHR CH buffet I'd rather help my self thank you - political correctness and health & safety gone to hell in a handcart - plastic gloves in this situation indicates an excuse for lack of basic handwashing hygene - how many restaurants do you go to where you're served by someone wearing plaggy gloves? OK maybe the $0.99 buffet at Circus Circus].

SFO is the only airline lounge I know that serves Pedro Ximinez sherry - if you like that kinda thing with your choccy or vanilla dessert, or even on its own. Rather an ecelctic selection but hugely welcome for me at any rate. I'm possibly still drinking their first bottle ;-)

On entry, immigration is the one good reason I've avoided LAX for the past decade, well prior to 9/11. SFO is the luck of the draw depending on how many of the BA/KL/AF/CX flights beat VS in.

Cheers, Howard
