Hello all!

Yet another load query question: My husband and I are traveling on VS 20 on 21/2/07, from SFO to LHR in PE. This is going to be our first PE flight, and now I'm worried about not getting any rest on the flight to LHR. Our last 3 trips have been in UC, and of course we love it! I booked PE to save a bit of money this time around, and now I'm regretting it. [:I]

Now I am considering upgrading us to UC on the flight to LHR as we would like to actually be able to get some sleep. I checked the Seat Counter website and Z is showing 7 (most fare codes are showing as 7?), so I guess we would be able to upgrade. I don't have access to Expert Flyer so I don't know what the actual load looks like.

So should we give up our PE seats and upgrade or should we stick with the PE seats? I'm thinking it's worth it... unless they want to charge me an arm and a leg, willing to pay the arm or leg but not both... If not I guess it's lesson learned, book UC & PE flight in advance to secure a better price...

Thank you for any help/suggestions!

Hi Angelica and welcome to V-Flyer. To be able to upgrade it will depend on whether you have a flexible fare in PE either in a W or S code. If it is a K fare it is not flexible and youronly chance may be to upgrade on the day at the airport having paid the difference between the K and the S.

Others will probably have other additional information but this is to be going on with.

Hi honey lamb, thank you for the response! I am indeed booked with a K fare, and I was planning on asking at check-in about the possibility of an upgrade. It's good to know I have a chance...

If you can afford it, I don't see any harm in upgrading:D I suppose the decision depends on your finances and your ability to sleep on planes.

You're funny VS045...;) Yes, cost is a factor, but I was also wondering if there was actually room in UC to upgrade to...

Can someone help me figure out how much this could potentially cost me? The flight I want to upgrade is: VS20 for 21/2/07, currently I have a K fare, so I would have to pay the difference to get to the S fare (?), and then pay the difference to upgrade to UC. Anyone? Your help is greatly appreciated!

It would be nice to know what UC seats are still availble too...

There's 22 seats left to sell in Upper on that flight - a one way upgrade would cost per person from K class around £1099 on the day or equivalent in dollars.

I too think the cost would keep me in PE.

I travel on VS19 and VS20 quite often. I find I get a good sleep in PE when I have around 4 hours sleep the night before, so by the time I get on the plane, I am very tired.

I wouldn't upgrade at that price, but then I don't find it difficult to sleep on planes (well PE/UC[:I]). If you do have trouble sleeping, or rather not, then I think it would definitely be a condsideration given that not sleeping will through your body clock even more out of whack and travelling east is always a struggle whatever the class of travel I find.

Well, it's not too bad considering that I just looked at VA.com at a one way for VS20 and it comes to $6260.10 per person in J class. Doesn't sting too much...and I get use of the SFO clubhouse (I know not as good as LHR)... I'll let you all know what happens when I do a trip report...

Thank you everyone for your help, what a great site!
