Just heard on Radio 2 news that all flights into Heathrow are being diverted due to a gas leak at Hatton Cross. Diverted to where I don't know.

Can't find anything on bbc news yet (but they're always slow).

cheers!

Thought as much, just had G-VWEB land over the top of me at Gatwick along with 2 EK 777s, one due in and the other diverted plus a Qatar A340.

Great day to be working at Gatwick!

I can currently see 8 747s and 6 A340s (300s and 600s), 1 of which is meant to be here.

To confirm.

VS flights diverted to LGW today were

VS672 - Nairobi
VS901 - Tokyo
VS251 - Shanghai.

Plus

QR007 - Doha

Don't have the EK flights listed but I'm looking at 2 EK 777s one at gate on the North Terminal other on remote stand with front stairs only

I thought that it was a bit quiet at work this afternoon! I dodn't know about the flight diversions.

Apparently, there was a gas leak (or suspected ..) near the 'Jurys Inn' hotel near Hatton Cross, and the Police closed the A30 in both directions from Hatton Cross to (I think) the A312. They also closed the eastern perimeter road, which caused more chaos. Lots of workers park in the staff car-park near Hatton Cross, but were unable to get in there, or were severely delayed by the road closures.
The Gas people expect to be there all night, so there may be more traffic delays tomorrow morning.

There is large scale building work at Hatton Cross & during excavation work those fine chaps cut into the gas main!!! As it was directly below the flight path LHR was closed!!!!
