Flying out to IAD in early August, anyone have any views of the new PE seats in the A343??? Flew out with the old ones in March and found them quite comfortable if dated, in what areas are the new ones better???

Also I take it there will be epower for my lappy, something I really missed having been spoilt by 744 Virgin flights.

I'll be taking my DSLR with me for in flight seat photos.

In the following areas for me:

- width is 'wider' and more comfortable
- seat back is more comfortable - I find the previous seats have a ridge that digs in to me just at the shoulder blades, this has gone
- lumber support is more efficient
- seat base is longer

but, the foot rest is not as good.

Enjoy your flight.

But if you bag bulkhead row seats, you will get the same pouffe things IIRC.

>>>>VS045..

No got some good seats, been there, smelt the human waste of rows 20-45.

Been fed utter crap by ground crew "Oh its a very good seat, right on the isle, you'll be very happy.

You end up with the lavatory on your left and a guy with Seriously bad BO on your right, who's mother spends the whole flight talking about how she wants your seat, and what a b**tard you are for not giving it to her, then takes it when you get up and you have to call on air crew to remove her, crying and cursing you in Punjabi.

Sore subject, you better believe it!

I have flew on the A343 from LHR - JFK, in Feb in PE, we found the seats to be very comfortable, much better than the old PE. We where impressed, just wishing now on our Orlando flight in September we could have them, we will have the old PE seats in the bubble. I do like the bubble though.

I dont know what system it had but it was the best one i have ever seen, it must have had 50 or so films to choose from you could stop, forward pause the film ect. They did say it was most advancent entertainment system when i asked.

It was V good, tons of games as well. The aircraft was only a few weeks old.

It must have been an A340-600 then. Nevertheless, the new seats are the same AFAIK, albeit with different IFE systems.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback... And many thanks to you Catherine for the picture.

Its interesting how in my opinion the seats remind me of the old style from the 50's, retro design, be it tweaked. They seem very conservative to those you see on BA or VS PE from the past. I never find the audio quality that great or video for that matter on VS, and its not the headset (I use Bose NC's) and my eyes are 20/20.. So not me! Is it better now?? Or is it the same old kit in a new package. Having flown JetBlue I found their system excellent, be it even they spoil it with giving you crappy headsets, but take your own and you get round that.

Cheers and tail winds, Stumpy
