Just been in to select my seats etc for my up-coming ORD VS flight and I now see there's a couple more options available when viewing/updating your bookings.

You can have a copy of your e-ticket emailed to you again should you loose your original one (has to be the same email addy that was originally used when booking though)

You can now also upgrade your cabin using a credit card.

There do seem to be a lot more bells and whistles...sorry..enhanced functionality and user experience...

One follow up if I may. Has it always been the case that if you book with VS direct (rather than VH) you get an automatic seat assignment ? I took the plunge last night and booked a short Boston trip in PE and was a bit surprised to find my seat numbers on the booking.

What were the upgrade rates that you saw James? Like-for-like ticket differences, or any discounting going on?

I'd still like to see any upcoming bookings listed without having to enter my booking reference every time.

Paul

It was the standard like-for-like upgrade price, the same price as the upgrade option you now get during booking online. It was giving me option to upgrade my K's to what I presume are Z's for either the outbound, inbound or the round trip.

There's obviously no upgrade options for reward bookings but the ability to receive another e-ticket is there.

Can't see you been able to upgrade V Hols fares though (I'll check when I get home though as I dont have my V Hols PNR on me here at work at the moment)

Hope fully this is not to far off topic....

I'm travelling with work to Vegas next week so called VS to add my FC number to the booking. Should this not enable me to automatically see the booking online without entering the booking ref etc.?

It should, but it doesn't. Customer centricity isn't part of the booking experience / website / system. Compare and contrast this to the Hilton Honors website where I'm at the centre of the enquiry and can see all my bookings past, present and future and can also easily carry out repeats etc.

Perhaps this is due to a combination of the number of frequent flyers there used to be and maybe a way of working that suggested the personal touch was better. Whatever at the moment the trip is at the centre of the system, not the customer.

Not necessarily. It depends on where and how you booked your flights. Agent booked PNR's are built differently to direct booked PNR's which is the reason why V Hols booked flights will never show automatically even when the booking contains your FC number.

No, I thought it was the fact I am on my laptop at the moment, working away, but no, it seems not to be working, just says "Unfortunately we have had to temporarily suspend the update booking facility, whilst we enhance it to give you more options. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we will reinstate it on the 19th July but if you are travelling before then please contact us on the numbers on the following page."

Same here. I'm trying to OLCI for our flight in the morning but having no joy with that or the 'amend my booking' page. Oh well, check in at the airport as per usual then.

Thanks,
Sarah

I'd just like to propose myself for Numpty Of The Year. I haven't written such tosh since my last pre-sales presentation. Login to Flying Club, click on Update Booking icon and there it is, my booking to BOS.

It doesn't, however, show my (VH booked) flight to ANU, even though I know that booking has my FC number attached.

It seems it's back up and running but I can't see the section where you can upgrade your ticket.
Am I missing the obvious or have they removed it

Are you viewing it from the link when you login to your FC account or by looking using the booking ref/eticket number? Using the last one brings it up just below your counter.

Because of this topic, I went on our manage your booking to see if there was a chance of upgrading our Nov/Dec flights from PE to UC. Well there is, but the return is more money, so I checked by doing a mock booking and it is a D, so obviously no Z available now. Once this is the case, are there never any Z available again?

Has anyone tried using a VH reference to retrieve and update a booking (e.g. for seat allocation) ? I know I did this when I first did a booking for ANU next year, but I'm currently being told that my booking can't be found.

I was interested to see whether it would present me with the "upgrade" option. I believe it shouldn't - as VH booked flights can only be upgraded via VH ? - but I was just playing..

If only it could store the booking reference for reward flights etc once you have manually entered it once...

My booking was directly with VA, but it's a reward flight, so I'm guessing that makes all the difference.

Last year they changed the plane for my flight (JNB seems to change to a 747 over Christmas) and I lost my prized seat which I chose months in advance. So this year I'm logging in regularly to check but each time I have to enter the booking reference.

The upgrade section is no longer there.

People with V Hols bookings - dont forget you can already upgrade/downgrade your VS flights using the 'Update Booking' section of the V Hols website, along with making other amendments (hotel & room type changes etc)

Flight upgrades dont count as a booking change so V Hols wont charge you an amendment fee. Other changes will incure the fee though.

V Hols update booking page is here

The upgrade with cash option is there again, but you only seem to be able to see it once you change your existing seat allocation [:?]

Just changed my PE seat on my return VS40 flight and after clicking the 'submit' button the upgrade icon appears in the list. Dont think I'm going to spend £4K upgrading my K fare to a D fare though [:0]

I think the VS web team still need to fine tune this upgrade option a bit [:w]
