Morning everyone,

I have just called FC to get my last six TP added and have, at last, attained AU status - woohoo!

My next flight is on JFK - LHR and I would like to ask where the UC/AU check-in is? Hopefully it's separate from the usual JFK check-in and security ruck.

I'd also appreciate some pointers on the CH. Firstly is it easy to find and secondly how big is it? The CH in JHB was very nice but tiny when compared to the one at LHR.

Lastly, there's a free invite into the CH for anyone travelling on VS4 on Sunday.

Congratulations on getting gold!

The UC check-in is at the right hand side of the normal check-in and marked by the purple carpet. However it sometimes happens that if UC check-in is busy you might get called to the ordinary check-in

The Clubhouse is easy to find. It is just up one level and you can't miss it. It is open to the airport itself which many people complain about but I honestly don't notice it. As I haven't been in the JNB clubhouse I can't compare it but it is divided up into different areas so it is difficult to get an idea of the area. In any case I'm hopeless on things like that.

Congrats on the Au, Nick. [y]

I like the JFK CH, the staff are great, the beer is great and the food is okay. ;):D It isn't as big as LHR, but is perfectly adequate. There is usually a good selection of UK papers in the racks as you walk in.

As it is landside, so you have to remember to leave enough time to get through security, but on my last three visits this hasn't been a problem - all of my flights have been fairly late in the evening and it has only taken a couple of minutes to get through.

One tip - if you have ordered duty free - don't assume it will be waiting at the same gate as the plane. I went through security at the departure gate and asked where the duty free was - only to be told I should have picked it up at a different gate. [:I] It turned out not to be a problem, as it was delivered to my seat, but in future I won't leave it to chance.

Well done on the Au, you lucky thing[y]

Like Nick, I really like the JFK CH too. To me it appears to be a long and narrow type of space with the dining area alongside the left as you enter, a middle section with seating and seating on the right hand side looking over the runway. Don't miss the snack area at the end of the dining tables where you can stock up with water, fruit and Ben and Jerrys ice-cream :D

You are open to the elements a bit when dining, but it just makes you appreciate being in the CH even more when you look down onto the busy terminal. I rate the food at the JFK CH highly, so I usually eat there instead of on the flight.

Enjoy your time in the CH[y]

Actually on the same level, walk to the bag drop then turn right, the left over the 'internal bridge' then left and you're in!

I like JFK CH because it's so light and airy!

Congrats on Au Nick, you will enjoy the JFK CH, it is a bit quirky having one side open as has been said above but I think it works.

Also, on behalf of our fellow v-flyers, may I thank you for extending the kind invitation to the CH. [y]

It seems a waste not to offer the free pass into the CH. I would have jumped at it should anyone offered it to me.

So far no takers, should I try and spot a single traveller and invite them or would that seem a bit strange?
